Anyone else notice the SONIC NURSE had 2 MURRAY ST songs tacked on at the end? Weird. That HITS one looks really cool, too. Jeez, I've never seen any of those import/bootlegs at the end there. |

I got some of those HDCD's (not SY) that my father bought me from China and for sure are regular 16 Bit | 44.1 Khz CD's. I assume these are fake too. The quality of the media is very, very poor, but the artwork is nicely done (only with some spelling mistakes). There are really cheep (0.50 cents - 1 dollar), but i say it again... the quality of the media sucks... |
noisereductions: yes i noticed that !
andrei: so thats very wierd, they look very nice... let's see what alpha say about quality of that sonic nurse ! |
I've haven't listened to the CDs yet (there are still seeled), but I'm guessing there are regular audio CD.
I've found them (the 3 Chinese boots, the Dirty one and the ATL promo) in a world music record shop in Paris. Unfortunately they were more expensive that if I bough them in China :( A friend of mine who lives there, got for free a Chinese bootleg of Thurston's Psychic Hearts ! All the logos are fake, they can't be HDCD or have a super-sound, etc. They even have ISBN number, while those numbers are for books, not records !!! I think the ATL one is not a bootleg, but I really don't know about the Dirty one. It looks like the other albums, but there is no Chinese writings on it. Strange.. I can't find a lot of infos about those discs on the internet, but according to google, I'm not the only one to have the Hits CD: http://20six.co.uk/duprie/cat/28862/..._November_2003 And this website has a copy for sale: http://www.priceminister.com/offer/b...-CD-Album.html |
for chris:
INFO NEEDED FOR THIS RELEASE Was SST version originally on pink vinyl? dunno if this is a well known fact or what... |
That looks pretty fine! Have you bought it? If so what was the price?
|
It's on ebay for a few days more... not really hard to find ;) !

Originally, no. SST jumped on the coloured vinyl bandwagon and repressed vast swathes of their catalogue on various colours at some point in the early 90's. I've read somewhere that they would order a run of 1000 copies, and then repress 'em again on a different colour if they sold out. Some of their releases can be found in up to 5 or 6 different colours, but SY escaped relatively lightly - EVOL on pink, Sister on purple & the Starpower 10" on grey or pink. Think that's the lot, though others may know better... |
niiiice. CL has a bunch of stuff to add :p
|
Now, what about this:
?? |
yeah i saw this on ebay today, i've never seen that cover before
|
Is it not the back of the CD promo? The text mentioned in the auction as being on the back cover matches this:
http://sonicyouth.com/mustang/lp/ep20h.jpg And the disc art appears to match this: http://sonicyouth.com/mustang/lp/ep20g.jpg Could be wrong though, I don't collect CDs... |
i've got the promo version and it hasn't got that image on it
see link: http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/showthread.php?t=17526 |
Curious.
noisereductions - do you want to edit the title and turn this into a general discog additions thread? (It's kinda happened already, but may as well make it official ;) ) I've got details of a bunch of other things that could be added, mainly alternate European pressings of the 80's LPs & Geffen singles. I'll see what I can dig up over the weekend... |

If I'm not mistaken, Master=Dik was kept in print slightly longer than the other SST original releases; I've often wondered if it was pressed at any time on coloured vinyl--I've never come across a copy.... Actually, there's a pretty cool thread on here somewhere regarding SY's coloured vinyl--in fact, I believe I started it. Look for a thread with a subject line something like, 'SYR2: How Many Colours...?' |
|
does anyone have more info on this record like how many were made etc.....
Kim Gordon Noise Hello Kitty LP picture disc (self-released, '04) only on "I Want One", although miscredited as being on "Noise Hello Kitty" instead ![]() ![]() i think Thuston,Kim and Coco are on it + CHRIS CORSANO i also found this interview where Kim mentions it http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...34/ai_n6128074 KG: I just did something for an anniversary art show for Hello Kitty. I did a limited-edition picture disc that [Gordon and Moore's 10-year-old daughter] Coco recorded her first song for. |
How do I edit the title?
I'm glad I started this thread. Let's keep this shiz going strong. |
Can you not change it by editing the first post? Possibly depends on the forum set-up whrther you can or not...
Anyway, here's a selection of various bits & bobs not currently listed in the discog - alternate pressings in general, thus probably only of interest to collector-geek types ;) To start off, there's at least 5 different versions of the Touch Me I'm Sick 12". Here's the 3 I own: ![]() That's Blast First silver cover/purple lettering, Blast First black cover & Glitterhouse black cover. In addition to those, there's also a Blast First silver cover/black lettering version: ![]() and a silver Glitterhouse cover: ![]() |
There's also 3 variations of the mono/stereo Providence 7".
First, the push-out centre version, as shown in the discog: ![]() As well as a solid-centre version like this copy currently on eBay: And thirdly a jukebox centre version like the one I own. This one has half the label text chopped off by the centre hole. ![]() The fact that there's 3 different pressings (combined with how frequently it appears on eBay) makes me seriously doubt the rumoured "500 copies". |
Next looking at Geffen/DGC singles, I've got the following alternate pressings:
Kool Thing 7" - UK version on the left, German on the right: ![]() ![]() They both have the same catalogue number (GEF81/5439 19671-7), but the German version has a glossier sleeve, re-arranged credits and an extra line of copyright text. It's also pressed on much thinner vinyl. I imagine that there's similarly alternate versions of the 12" too. |
And again for 100%...
UK 7" [DGCS 11] on the left, German 7" [GES19077] on the right: ![]() ![]() (The scans in the discog are of the German pressing, though only the UK version is mentioned in the text) Same story again with the 12": ![]() ![]() This time the UK version [DGCT 11] is shoddier - they're both on similar quality vinyl, but the UK pressing comes in a flimsy top-opening slip-in sleeve, while the German version [GET21735] is housed in a "proper" sleeve with an inner. I believe there's also at least 3 pressings of the Dirty Boots 12" [US/UK/German] but I don't have the evidence on hand for those. There may well be further European variations too - there's French, Spanish, Dutch & Scandanavian pressings of Nirvana singles from the era, so Geffen could well have done the same with SY to some degree... |
Still more!
Here's a couple of alternate versions of Evol that have been on eBay recently: German pressing - Blast First/Vox: ![]() And a Dutch copy (possibly on Torso?) - note the 'STEMRA' publishing logo. ![]() Next is a copy of Sister that was on eBay France a while ago - I'm not sure what version it is, but the label is different to the Blast FIrst & SST pressings: ![]() And one more Sister - this is a Brazilian pressing (on Stilletto) that was recently on eBay (and is currently on it's way to me!) ![]() There's also at least 2 European pressings of Goo - the first, which I own, has the sleeve & record both made in Germany, and the cover only lists the 7599-24297-1 catalogue number. These are the same LPs that were bundled with the bonus Dirty Boots (8 track) 7", but were also sold by themselves. The label text on these ones is printed in a 'hand-written' style. Later European copies have sleeves that are printed in Holland, though the LPs are still made in Germany. The cover also mentions the DGC 24297 & GEF 24297 catalogue numbers, and the label text is different. There's images of this pressing on discogs.com: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?what=R&obid=387541 discogs.com also has images of a Geffen Daydream Nation [424 515-1], which was a new one on me: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?what=R&obid=895297 |
Last one for now... my copy of the Los Herencia De Los Munster 7" has black labels & purple text like this:
![]() rather than purple labels/black text like the one in the Mustang discog: ![]() |
thanks again, james ;)
|
Radar... if your goal was to get me jealous, mission accomplished.
|
Heh, sorry ;) Don't worry though, I've had a look through a couple of the "post your collection" threads and there's other folks here who put me to shame - I just keep an eye out for these kinda variants...
|
ok i'll try again i'm just after a little bit more info about this record, can't find out much anywhere, does anyone know how many were made?
