I have a copy of his The First Album I Ever Got, where he scats along with Dylan Nyoukis and Carlos Giffoni while driving. I was under the impression that that's generally regarded as his most 'unlistenable' solo or side-project offering.... |

Yeah, I discovered that website a while back. Some nice, rare stuff there. It's a great opportunity for someone--like me--to download rips of vinyl-only releases that s/he owns, but haven't the techno to rip to disc him/herself. |

Do you mean a physical copy because it's for download? |

Here is a great review from aquarius records:
"This album makes me embarrassed for conceptual art. Thurston created ten short guitar improvisations, each just barely over a minute long. Fusinato completed a painting in the time that it took for Thurston to make his improvisation. While listening to these slight aural abrasions, Fusinato had to think fast... but all he could come up with was 10 pure red paintings. OK his tools were different for each piece -- one with a blue plastic bag, another with a tin can, then a brush, etc. Maybe that was cool to watch (better than most improv noise shows I'd imagine, visually) but do we really need a cd? This sucks. I mean this really sucks. I don't think I can express how much this sucky piece of suck really sucks." I wonder how they are sold out on this item? |
ahah, thats the most awesome review i've ever heard
|
it's funny ! idea of this album is fine, but improvisations sucks...
i wonder that thurston can one time ! play something really awsome instead of most noisy shit like this.. but few albums from that website are good for example "Shamballa" with William Hooker, it's fuckin awsome, but things like Kapotte Muziek are shitty... |

Hey, Stu, you've shown Moshe the more expensive of two on Gemm! The second is much cheaper!
http://www1.gemm.com/item/MOORE-c-TH...GML1415492619/ (Although, interestingly, the one I've posted is the same one as the musicstack one that you've shown, but it's $2 cheaper on musicstack!) |
Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

But what year was this TM/MF album released? and was it only out on CD...? I really wish SY would keep better track of their own discography. Releases seem to go in and out of print with often the contributing members the only people aware of their existence! |
