I'm not impressed by anyone laying into Herr Neurotic; he's got one of the most ridiculously broad tastes and doesn't seem capable of not listening to things (he's not the only one like that round here). He's fond of some stuff that I think is absolutely abysmal, but he also strikes me as being one of the most agenda-less listeners I've ever encountered. You'd do well to take a leaf from his book.

i think you re taking this wayyyyy to personal dude

DeadDiscoDildo 06.05.2008 02:44 PM

Haha, Six Flags is fucking ballsy, cutting-edge MODERN, yo!

Had no idea they were promoting abortion!

Nah, I'm just being an ostreperous cunt. Happens a lot, you're more than welcome to ignore me.

Unfortunately, if you're going to post contentious, ill-advised horseshit, I'm likely to want to be a prick. I shouldn't assume for a second that I'm likely to care, and I, in turn, shall assume the same of y'sen.

Everyneurotic 06.05.2008 03:55 PM

you can't be that bad because you like yes (at least close to the edge).

DNAINTHEDNA 06.05.2008 03:57 PM

had tickets to see them next month, im bummed about jon

DNAINTHEDNA 06.05.2008 03:58 PM

and relayer and drama are also awesome

MellySingsDoom 06.05.2008 04:01 PM

Christ knows, I've heard enough rotten power electronics to sink the entire US, Russian and Chinese navies all in one go. If Girls Aloud did a power electronics single, I've an idea it'd be pretty fucking alright, actually. Anyone here heard the early 80's P.E. duo Fistfuck (Diana Rogerson and Jill Westwood)? Truly awe-boggling stuff, I tell thee, and a hell of a lot better than many other bedroom losers, too.

Everyneurotic 06.05.2008 04:13 PM

shit!! i didn't know!!!

hope he gets better...circa played here earlier but i decided not to go because, as good as they can play the songs, the changes of them singing them like jon are very slim to none.

i prefer their bootlegs but relayer, close to the edge and fragile are fantastic.

no matter what people say tales from the topicgraphic oceans rules

demonrail666 06.05.2008 04:21 PM

I'm sorry, but some things just stand above opinion. The fact that Topographic Oceans is utter rubbish being one of them.

explain why it is so sire.

Everyneurotic 06.05.2008 04:28 PM

i haven't heard topographic yet. i know one of the songs, though; it's not bad.

demonrail666 06.05.2008 04:31 PM

I can't. I might prove myself wrong.

All I know is that I've been burned too many times in the past by Prog to give it another go.

Album is epic, and if someone can sat the eno and fripp albums are good, and cant for tales, they are foolin themselves

MellySingsDoom 06.05.2008 04:36 PM

I've listened to "Tales..." a few times, and it's obvious high-class of musicality doesn't detract from it's severe lack of actual decent songs. For me, Van den Graaf Generator did thing thing far, far better. However, PunkFact: Keith Levine (early Clash/Public Image Limited) absolutely worshipped Steve Howe's axework.

demonrail666 06.05.2008 04:37 PM

No Pussyfooting is a far better album than Topographical Oceans.

sure.

MellySingsDoom 06.05.2008 04:40 PM

^^^Word to the muvva on that call. Especially when heard on 16RPM with a stinking hangover - seriously good stuff.

Everyneurotic 06.05.2008 04:41 PM

i think vdgg are very saccharine for my taste, i like to listen to pawn hearts every couple of years. whereas i can listen to "close to the edge" the song many times in a row all year long.

smelly: also pat smear from the germs, the intro to "no god" is him playing the last part of the intro to "roundabout".

and i'm not too fond of prog either, i don't like genesis, don't like jethro tull, don't like emerson lake and palmer. i like yes, crimson and some other not too well known bands from the era (like virus).

MellySingsDoom 06.05.2008 04:46 PM

Not really "prog" per se, but perhaps should be included anyway:

batreleaser 06.05.2008 06:23 PM

i like king crimson, magma, and henry cow. and brutal prog.

atsonicpark 06.05.2008 06:26 PM

Most of the popular prog bands were pretty shitty, though stuff like gentle giant was really good, despite the vocals... and obviously, Crimson..

As far as avant-prog (Thinking Plague, Henry Cow, and the like) and "brutal" prog (Koenjihyakkei, Happy Family, Korekojin, Demi Semi Quaver, the amazing and underrated Dun) and shit, that stuff's CONSTANTLY blowing my mind... My favorite prog band was probably Hoyry-Kone...

o'connor 06.05.2008 06:30 PM

so it appears that thurston reviewed this peter j woods' guys new cassette

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=38252746&b logID=310089196

some of the "noise" in was alright but he really needs to put that microphone down. or have his vocal chords removed. one of the two. :)

DNAINTHEDNA 06.05.2008 06:47 PM

still sucks
