Silent Dan Speaks 07.03.2008 12:44 PM

Well, a lot of my friends worship Coldplay and Death Cab for Cutie. I'll leave it at that.

Sonic Youth 37 07.03.2008 12:45 PM

My old roommate had great taste in music. Listened to a lot of Bob Dylan, Phil Spector girl groups, Lightning Bolt, and shoegaze.

SuperCreep 07.03.2008 01:25 PM

My best friend and I share mostly the exact same music taste, except he likes Tool and I really don't like them at all anymore. He's probably the only person outside of the webernet I can talk music with.

I don't bother any of my other friends about what they listen to.

Ahh well, we can't be in the same boat all the time there, Space Cowboy ;)

jimbrim 07.03.2008 01:44 PM

most of my chums listen to hip-hop.

terriblecanyons 07.03.2008 01:53 PM

Most of my friends listen to the same shit I do.
And it's not a coincidence that my acquaintances listen to rap and shit like that.

greedrex 07.03.2008 02:01 PM

i ain't got no friends

EMMAh 07.03.2008 02:14 PM

I have some friend's who listen to some of the same music that I do.

For the most part though, I listen to my music by myself.

atsonicpark 07.03.2008 02:17 PM

Oh yeah, Tool!

Tool is awesome. "aenima"!

HECKLER SPRAY 07.03.2008 02:23 PM

I've got a friend who listens to this band :

atsonicpark 07.03.2008 02:27 PM

who's that? old lazy eyes, his 3 goth friends, and stone cold steve austin ?

HECKLER SPRAY 07.03.2008 02:34 PM

Yeah, I know, but she's my friend nevertheless.
She's funny, especially when she's drunk.

I fucking love that band. Your friend is cool.

Rob Instigator 07.03.2008 03:52 PM

I got a friend who listens to so much obscure hardcore, jesus, he gets frustrated because no one knows about any of his bands!

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 07.03.2008 03:54 PM

I pretty much have friends that listen to everything, otehr than free-jazz and noise, avant-garde stuff.

Boring note: the "upside down CND-logo" is actually the Rune of Protection the right way round. So you're protecting yerself with that shirt.

that must suck. all my friends listen to cool roots reggae, or flavorable hip hop or both, and a few even sabbath, and slowly but surely they are all being broken off with the Dead.

pantophobia 07.03.2008 09:25 PM

"friends"? as in real people you can see and not on the internet?

no such thing exists!!

viewtiful_alan 07.03.2008 11:21 PM

My best friend listens to not so underground alternative: QOTSA, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.

cool stuff, but he prettymuch just raids my record collection and picks out the easy stuff.

batreleaser 07.04.2008 09:22 AM

i used to love AEnima. i probably still do, but whenever i listen to it now, i skip around the tracks like crazy. and the skit things are dumb. it almost made my 500 records, but for those reasons missed the cut.

LittlePuppetBoy 07.04.2008 01:35 PM

My friend Robin (known as Inhuman on this board) has almost the same musical taste as me. We introduce bands to each other constantly.
Same thing with his brothers, who are also good friends.

My younger brother is mostly into genera rock music, but I've played Dino Jr, Pavement, Diamond Head, Stooges, Sonic Youth, the Melvins near him, and he doesn't mind it, he even likes some of it (he liked Pavement's guitar style).

My older brother.....he's 23 and still listens to shit I got over after high school. His loves stuff like Linkin Park and Blink 182(whom I have criticised in front of him), techno, general classic rock (the hits of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, the Doors), and some hip-hop. He saw RUSH live not that long ago, and he was raving about how great the drummer is, but whenever I talk about my music, he brushes it off. I showed him the video for Dino Jr's "Freak Scene", and he thought it sucked, same with a Gang of Four video (he is a fan of RHCP btw). I was talking to him about my favourite bands one night, but he stopped me and went "please...I bet Linkin Park make WAYYY more money than all of your bands combined." and he said that as if it was a legitimate criticism. He thinks avant-garde anything is nonsense.

His other friends are the same way (but are more intrigued by my knowledge of music), and he has a few friends who are into punk and hardcore.

Another friend plays classical instruments (clarinet and some other ones), but I don't know about his musical tastes as much.

Derek 07.04.2008 02:15 PM

So let's all agree that our friends' taste in music sucks.

Toilet & Bowels 07.04.2008 02:31 PM

most of my friends listen to decent or halfway decent stuff, i don't really talk about music that much with any of them though.

Phlegmscope 07.04.2008 02:44 PM

The ones I have discussions about music with are the few who are into lot of the same stuff I am, and have a wider spectrum of taste than I have.
Most of my friends though are into generic "nme" indie, or metal such as in flames or something.

Derek 07.04.2008 03:02 PM

Same.

Mostly Harmless 07.11.2008 03:20 PM

I have the rap kids, the country kids, and my best friend listens to the most terrible Classic Rock, including Aerosmith.

drrrtyboots 07.11.2008 03:31 PM

Two of my friends listen to a lot of similar stuff as me but with a much keener sense in electronica. Most of my other friends aren't that into music but are pretty willing to come along to shows most of the time.

viewtiful_alan 07.11.2008 04:33 PM

My friend listens to horrible modern metal (lamb of god, etc.)
Coolest albums he owns: I against I, Get Akward, Rock For LIght, Goo, Raw Power

I've started getting him into some of the heavier alternative... He likes making noise rock with me which is a plus.

atsonicpark 07.11.2008 04:46 PM

lamb of god's not too bad.

viewtiful_alan 07.11.2008 06:43 PM

Meh they aren't really my thing.
Don't much carefor those kind of vocals.

atsonicpark 07.11.2008 06:44 PM

me either, but the music's okay. better than nu metal shit.

my friends all listen to this fake metallica rip that's actually the new scissor shock album

sarramkrop 07.11.2008 10:01 PM

I got two of my mates into Pink Reason and Psychedelic Horshit. I am winning and I hate Jesus in a totally homosexual way. Jesus sucks at this sort of thing.

punkaspoo 07.12.2008 02:52 AM

One of my friends love 60's stuff like the Beatles, Cat Stevens and Rolling Stones. I think he have a good taste.
Then there's a bunch of friends who are into bands like Black Label Society, Motörhead, Pantera...etc.
I can tolerate my mates' taste, mostly.

MellySingsDoom 07.12.2008 03:24 AM

Me moaning, hur hur hur.

Sorry, I'll get me coat.
