He was definitely "out there" (no pun intended), but still very much a genius. I always think back to this video of him to confirm so. That line about his influences has to be the most sincere thing I've ever heard a musician say.

Fischerspooner were the electroclash band, the industry invented the tag for them.

Eurodance turns out roughly one entirely amazing song a year then returns to producing about 40 singles a week of turgid shite.

I've never thought of Kate Bush as a basket case; she's more eccentric than your average housewife but it's mostly an act, a performance.

I think some critics just like to see any mildly-eccentric female singer as a kind of Victorian 'mad woman in the attic'. Yet someone like, say, David Bowie (the male-equalivent of her performance-wise) is just a creative genius.

I'm not convinced any singer is properly crazy apart from the ones whose brains have been buggered by LSD.
