Nice, Bran Chippendale's one of your favorites too. He's insane, and he played at my brother's music festival and my brother said it was the best drumming he's ever seen.

NO guitarist, no proper drummer, I'd like to try this semi-improvisational outfit out:

Mark E Smith - vocals
Kim Gordon - bass and vocals
Aphex Twin - electronic noises
David Sylvian - random sounds and instruments as he sees fit, plus some vocals

Hopefully produced by the great scouser Philip Jeck.

Hip Priest 06.29.2006 09:44 AM

I was thinking of maybe Riuichi Sakamoto and Holger Czukay, because of their Sylvian associations, but JEck might do the job nicely.

_slavo_ 06.29.2006 09:46 AM

I see we got a nice Jeck-loving club over here.

kingcoffee 06.29.2006 10:26 AM

I know there are a lot of members, but this would be one large, heavy hitting band:

Kurt Cobain (yeah I know he's dead, but what the hell, it's my dream)-guitar and vocals
Lee Ranaldo-guitar and vocals
Jimi Hendrix (see above statement)-guitar and vocals
J Mascis-guitar and vocals
Ronald Jones-guitar
Doug Martsch-guitar and vocals
Keith Moon (see above statement)-drums
Steve Shelley-drums
Yoshimi Peewee-drums and vocals (screaming, mostly)
Les Claypool-bass
Chris Kirkwood-bass

Vocals: Hendrix/Robert Plant/Mick Jagger
Organ: Ray Manzarek
Drums: John Bonham

actually the ultimate cock rock band would be this

gene simmons - bass

Rob Instigator 06.29.2006 01:46 PM

led zepp was a blues rock band. they had some prot-cock rock elements, but no way in hell would a oc rock band be caught dead singing about druids and old ladies pocckets full of gold and bullshit stupid nonsense like that! They would sing about cock and pussy and rock and partying and stupid fucking nonsense like that!

KISS is the GODS OF COCK ROCK!

Hmm... good call on the Philip Jeck Slavo.

I'm gonna go with some drum-heavy shit, methinks.

Drums: Rashied Ali, Beard from NNCK, Tony Allen, Chappy from local Jazz band called Dave (my fave drummer ever), Jaki Leibzeit.

Horns: The ressurected Albert Ayler and Roland Kirk, Nmpereign, Borbetomagus, Kaoru Abe.

Strings: A heavily amplified Arditti Quartet + Gidon Kremer.

Brass section: A Bosnian Klezmer band whose name escapes me.

Vocals: Sainkho Namchylek, w/ backing from the chaps out of Huun-huur tu.

That'll do. No guitars for me thanks.

My latest HipHop/Progressive/Jazz/Funk wet dream:
Del, Kool Keith, KRS-ONE- Rapping
Back up by Joe Lally on bass, George Hurley on Drums, Thelonius Monk on Piano.. that's probably good enough.. But, I'll add Robert Fripp on guitar
EDIT- Fripp and Monk is probably too intense.. One or the other would be cool.

Jose Feliciano should've been put in this group. THEN it would be awesome.
P.S. How is Thundercleese?

keep poppin pimples 10.04.2010 12:38 AM

i don't think there are any bosnian klezmer bands

indeed i can't think of any bosnian band with a brass section

atsonicpark 10.04.2010 01:08 AM

I think the Magic Band is my dream band -- probably the best bassist, guitarists, drummer, and vocalist ever.

But, for fun, I'll try to make a non-Magic Band (or Beefheart) list here...

vocals: that guy from The VSS
guitar 1: Trey Spruance
guitar 2: Seeichi Yamamoto
guitar 3 (yeah, this will be a 3-guitar band a la Thinking Fellers): Sir Richard Bishop
bass: Peter Hook
drums: Greg Saunier

Death & the Maiden 10.04.2010 02:01 AM

Drums (also vocals): Klaus Dinger
Vocals: Claudius Kielholz
Vocals: Shizuka Miura
Guitar (also vocals): Rowland S. Howard
Guitar (also vocals): Ed Kuepper

The guitarists can share bass playing when necessary.

finding nobody 06.24.2011 01:37 PM

DJ Spooky- Turntables
Richard Bishop- Guitar, vocals whatever random shit he brings
Joe Lally- Bass
John Zorn- Sax
