There's nothing by Sonic Youth that I don't enjoy.

killthecaliforniagirls 04.29.2009 11:23 AM

same with me. don´t like the experimental jet set record THAT much. but it´s still amazing. sweet shine, winners blues and bull in the heather are my favourites on that one. i also like RR. such a good record. i just love turquoise boy, rats and incinerate. hmmm i´m pretty sure i go with the eternal as their worst record. today i tried it about 4 times - i guess i´m no longer interested in that record.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.29.2009 11:27 AM

Screaming Skull and Androgynous Mind are also winners.

Hmmm I'm not the biggest fan of Rats or Turquoise Boy. Rats has that cool bass-drum interplay between Thurston and Steve that hearkens back to Making the Nature Scene, but otherwise it seems like a typical Lee song that doesn't stand out of the pack. Turquoise Boy is a nice mellow song, but nothing really puts it over the top- it sort of runs together with similarly slow and mellow songs like Or and Lights Out.

For me Rather Ripped's best tracks: Incinerate, Do You Believe in Rapture?, What a Waste, and Jams Run Free

killthecaliforniagirls 04.29.2009 11:28 AM

hey... we´re friends again?

Dirty & RR

Jeremy 04.29.2009 04:55 PM

NYC Ghosts and Flowers because they wanted to be really different with it, and it was a total failure of that idea, and therefor the songs on the record aren't very good. I think it's just awful.

Second would be EJSTANS. Hate the record. Most of the songs make me cringe. To me it on that record it always sounds like they're trying to be Sebadoh or Pavement and it's just a mess of a record.

NYC Ghosts + Flowers is amazing. I think it's their last INSPIRED album.

i heard the phrase, "their new album sucks" all the time. i think it happens mostly with punk rock fans when the band's newest album isn't as fast or maybe it's better produced than their last one. usually the person who says this never even heard the album.

back to the question. i used to think it was dirty, but i recently listened to it (after six years) and i became quite the fan of it again. so it's rather ripped.

i always hated it, but i hate battles.

harlock_jds 04.29.2009 05:18 PM

ATL by a mile. God i hated that album and i thought i'd never like the band again after it.

mysonichaircut 04.29.2009 05:30 PM

halloween is worst. definetely. i know for sure.

Toilet & Bowels 04.29.2009 05:33 PM

RR, NO DOUBT. It's about as good as a No Doubt record too.
People who don't like ExpJetSet, or NYCG+F need to have a word with themselves.

mysonichaircut 04.29.2009 05:38 PM

"Heathen" is also a terrible bad album.

canabero 04.29.2009 06:02 PM

Rather Ripped. No doubt

joe11121 04.29.2009 06:09 PM

E, JS, T & NS.

why the Rather Ripped hate?

Death & the Maiden 04.30.2009 03:01 AM

I don't like Goo at all except for three songs. I never listen to Jet Set. The only track on Washing Machine that I like is the title track, and maybe one of the Lee tracks.

I agree. ATL is pretty poor, has a few good tracks but ultimately I find it a bit off.

dionysusundone 04.30.2009 03:37 AM

Probably Rather Ripped for me, but I don't care for Washing Machine much either. Haven't tried to listen to it in a while though, so maybe that's changed. Have we had a worst song version of this yet?

ZEROpumpkins 04.30.2009 03:48 AM

No point making a worst song thread. Panty Lies would dominate.

Androol 04.30.2009 03:51 AM

listening to the eternal for my sixth time and starting to get kind of obsessed

dont you think you will get obsessed of a genesis album too, if you hear it six times without interruption?

i like the eternal, just wanted to know :-)

haha i dont know maybe but thats a good point

I will admit though that still unfortunately I am distinctly not getting obsessed with any of these songs in particular. whereas the last two albums i fell madly in love with more than a few songs.

I love Panty Lies. It is the only song from WM I have on my gym playlist.

same here. i tried to train myself like a dog to fit into that album, but it doesnt work. but i still feel like i like it somehow - maybe i will try again in a week or so, and meanwhile listen to some genesis.

atsonicpark 04.30.2009 07:58 AM

someone did make a worst sy song thread, and Panty Lies DID win.

Though personally I think my friend goo is their worst.

jennthebenn 04.30.2009 08:25 AM

"Self-Obsessed and Sexxee" is almost the worst SY song, except that part
where it reminds me of "Party All the Time" by Eddie Murphy.

"Sleepin' Around" wins.

Worst album is NYCG&F.

greedrex 04.30.2009 08:43 AM

^nope

atsonicpark 04.30.2009 08:43 AM

yeah ghosts and flowers kicks ass.

greedrex 04.30.2009 08:44 AM

^yes

pantophobia 04.30.2009 08:54 AM

nothing i dislike

but would have to say their first EP, if only it seems incomplete after hearing Cosmopolitan Girl and Destroyer live on the reissue, and i would have loved if they recorded those in the studio
