Difficult question.
Maybe The Diamond Sea or Stones. |
Schizophrenia
I consider this tune to be the best composistion of all time, counting every known work of jazz and old stuff from classical writers. |
this is almost impossible but I'll throw a few out there

Today:
Hits of sunshine The Sprawl |
Swimsuit Issue
Washing Machine Nevermind (What Was It Anyway?) Cosmopolitan Girl Tunic (Song For Karen) Plastic Sun |
Kill Yr. Idols
Pipeline/Kill Time Entire Murray Street album... |
I think their best-written song is bull in the heather, simply for how amazingly unappealing the parts sound individually -- but together, it's a pure sonic masterpiece. The way they constructed that song is BEYOND genius.
Favorites change. I've probably listened to rain on tin more than any other track, but I'd say my all time favorite is Stereo Sanctity. |
my ten
kotton krown white kross wish fulfillment pacific coast highway schizophrenia expressway kill yr idols on the strip starpower teenage riot pipeline and 100% are on there sometimes, and diamond sea. i don't know. atari- i agree about bull in the heather. it's a great song. |

I agree. Incinerate, or Kool Thing, or Sugar Kane. |
Tie between 'Cross the Breeze and Diamond Sea.

It is great. You should check out the albums "EVOL" and "Confusion is Sex" and see what you think of those! I would have to go with Improvision Ajoutee, Inhuman, or I dreamed I dream |

Good call on Karen Revisited, that's easily one of my favorites, but I really can't list them all because it would take hours |

All EVOL (specially Expressway and Shadow of a Doubt), all Bad Moon Rising (specially I'm insane), Schizophrenia, Diamond Sea, White Kross, Cinderella's Big Score (live), Wish Fulfillment. There are lots more that don't cross my mind now.

Hi sonicl! Happy New Year to you too and everybody. Yes I had a little of a fall out but I'm here again. Hope everything's cool for you.
|
1. Shadow of a Doubt
2. Secret Girl 3. Skip Tracer 4. Kissability 5. Tom Violence 6. Wish Fulfillment 7. Schizophrenia 8. NYC Ghosts and Flowers 9. Empty Page 10. Loop Cat |
I always forget to check if somebody posted right after me and commented. So that post with the songs was kept in the middle between your salutation and my answer sonicl. I'll be more careful.
|
They're fun threads, that's all. I don't think SY will change their live repertoire just because of our choices here. Just to get to know each other better I think.
|
If I was told that I had to get rid of all my music except for one burned CD, containing one track by each of my favourite bands, I guess the SY track would be Diamond Sea.
|
Yes that one is way far too good. Don't know though if I chose it. It's too hard, so many good songs...
|
Its nigh on impossible to have one favourite of all time
but I will name 3 for different reasons *Expressway to yr skull - its the best tune to end a gig with and its the ultimate guitar song of all time *Teenage riot - their signature tune, the one you would go off at most in a live situation, it sums the band up perfectly *Thom Violence - my favourite studio recording of theirs. There's something about the way it was recorded, the production, Thurstons voice, its the epitome of Sonic Youth on vinyl any of the above 3 really!!!! |
