Godspeed are the worst offenders.

Mogwai were influenced by Slint for sure, I wouldn't call them a rip though. And yeah a lot of post-rock bands are also influenced a lot by GY!BE, but I think overall Mogwai has influenced post-rock more than GY!BE; maybe because Godspeed have this more uncommon instrumentation, I don't know.

One another boring band: A Silver Mt Zion nowadays. A shame seeing how good their two first albums were ...

silver mt zion's 1st two are great stuff.

They have a habit of noodling around way too much. I just can't enjoy them.

Saying that though, I listen to bands like Kayo Dot who noodle around just as much. Preference I guess.

I'd really have to try really hard to think of other bands that I find boring. I find almost anything I listen to has some intrinsic value. I thought that was how most people felt about music. I just find so much to like, love, or at least respect about music.

And that's not so say I don't hate some bands. But just because I hate them doesn't mean I don't think they're valid, and if I hate them I certainly don't find them boring.

Sigur Ros are a pretty major snooze-fest.

Godspeed rule. First 2 White Stripes albums are good.

Most bands are boring, really. Even bands I like. I enjoy Tortoise, for example.. well, some of their stuff.. but they're so fucking boring. I love King Crimson, but some of their shit is boring. And so on and so on.

...Radiohead are just awful. I can't make it through most of their albums because they're so boring. IN RAINBOWS is nearly unlistenable to me.

I haven't mentioned them in a while so I think it's safe for me to say that Markers are one of the most boring bands, if not the most boring, I've ever heard. Their music is so monotonous. For "noise", "freak-out", "psychadelic", "whoa man" stuff, like their early stuff, there's no variations, no changes, and you can fast-forward to any part of any song and it's the same shitty guitar with a competent drummer and a girl going "Ya ya." Just awful. On their newer stuff, where they write 2-chord songs they can barely play, they're probably even more boring. Simply atrocious.

I'm not going to list anything, cause it would go on forever.

Pretty much, anything I don't listen to is something I find boring.

Plain and fucking simple.

I hate all of their music, but that's just me.

I agree. I really try not to label anything as boring, because bands I think are boring I usually find are quite good later on.

But with godspeed...I got yanqui UXO on vinyl like two years ago, listened once and felt no need to listen to it again (subsequent listens resulted in the same feeling). I simply do not have the time for songs averaging 15 minutes that consist mostly of the same thing. I understand they have better albums, but I don't really feel compelled to rush out and buy them after listening to this one.

I am a gaint Smith fan, still yeah...it's quit winey music and I can get why it doesn't grab you.

I agree. I don't get the appeal, I think it's just music that goes nowhere for the sake of it.
