I like "Karen Revisited" first and foremeost--love that line something about "the sheets went up like gasoline" or whatever; I also like the lengthy improvisation towards the end--whatever concert it was culled from. And "Karen Revisited" was the better title, considering that 4 years earlier A Thousand Leaves had "Karen Kolrane"; "Karenology" just sounds like an overstatement or something.
Second best would probably be "Rain On Tin"--great jamming number. Oh! by the way, the Japanese/European bonus track some of you have been referring to is "Street Sauce", which, I believe, is a segment from a longer number on the Pola X or Demonlover soundtrack--I'm not quite sure at the moment, I get these things confused, there being so much non-mainstream material out there in there repertoire... |

Karen Revisited.
Arguably the last great song (SYR aside) Sonic Youth have recorded. |
No love for empty page eh... Yeah I agree with Karen Revisited though.
|
I don't get it. You ask us what's our favorite song "off" Murray Street, but all of the choices are songs on Murray Street. Which is it? ;)
|
Radults has moved into my number one (taken away from Karenology).
I don't get what the deal with Pastic Sun is... it is such a fucking rad song. |
Sympathy.
|
Karenology.
|
Karenology.
With Rain on Tin close behind. Both of those songs are flawless. The album is too. |
Rain on Tin.
|
tough call. short album that almost every song on it is a classic... hmmm rain or radical or notice or plastic sun or karen.......
rain on tin i reckon, no wait ill have to listen to it... goes off finds cd......................... ................45 ish minutes later..... rain on tin is the victor! |
I voted rain on tin.
|
Hm, I don't know. Murray Street always comes across as tedious to me. I have to be in the right mood and even still Rain on Tin loses my interest after a while. Karen Revisited is pobably my favorite just because the first three minutes is beautiful. Communication Notice comes in second, fucking cool ass riff right off.

Rain on Tin.
|
Karenology. I love it when Lee sings ASK-ME-IF-I-CARE, and a common place becomes epic. All the emotion in it including the instrumental break.
|
Sympathy for the strawberry is fresh and epic.
|
rad adults.

Rain on Tin.

|
Karen Revisited. One of my favorite SY tunes ever. That song can lift my spirits or bring me down. Depends on my mood.
|
RAAAIN on tin!

Radical adults! that noisy part drives me crazy.

Rain on Tin or Karen Revisited
|
Empty Page.
|
all of them.
Their most coherent piece of work ever. |
I have had some lost moments listening to Sympathy....
But in the last year also I have learned to appreciate Radical as well. |
Karen Revisited.

Rain on Tin or Disconnection Notice. I've decided to support the latter.
