yeah well after 11 years I was able to witness the inmense power of Sonic Youth in BA ( Last time for me was in LDN 2004 at the Astoria but that's another story)
Again like in 2000 the show began later than expected it was supposed to begin at 0.10 it started around 0.35. I was really mad! honestly I couldn't stand how much extratime Calle 13 had! we were chanting at them "fuck you" from the other stage. Anyway.
The show was short but really intense. Tom Violence, Death Valley '69 Hey Joni and "Cotton Crown"I know this might sound familiar you yanks, but for an argentinean like me it felt like a punch in the face.
And the Solo with the fan was sth out of this world.
I'm going to Uruguay, it's at the Anfiteatro de Verano" they are playing with alt-rock bands from Uru. So I'm planning to let you know what's going on over there. cheers people!

If you check the video for Sacred Trickster in YouTube (with great sound btw) there are some Kim's comments re the VIP which the organizers may have not liked! (I believe fans wanted the VIP to be removed due to obscene prices?)

Yeah you're probably right, I think I remember a samll gap between Calle 13 and Sonic Youth when then webcast seemed to stop.

I'd gladly have teenage riot cut to have a chance to listen live to some of the other songs on that tracklist....bllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhh!

Stu, I think camtasia "captures" a portion of the screen, doesn't work as stream-grabbers, just to spare you some googlin' in case you wondered how that could work while streamtransport or other simlar things didn't ;).

In a Borgesian alternate universe, Thurston is stranded in Argentina. Lonely, mature, and out of control, he embarks on alternately exploratory and self destructive adventures which he himself percieves in a non-linear timeline:

...Working on a fishingboat in a small village, he is overcome by the vastness of the ocean, sees himself from the fish's point of view. Mist enshrouds the landscape and mind, obscuring the path but making all connections possible...

...Looking through a street stall selling cassettes, he finds several Sonic Youth titles he does not recognise. He purchases them, and a cheap tape player at a discount electronics market. Meets a few fans on the street, accepts their offer to smoke. Forgets the bag of tapes on the sidewalk. Later at the hotel, remembers the tapes, goes back to the corner where he left them. The bag is there, untouched. Returns to hotel, head swimming, falls asleep with tape playing. The songs are unmistakably the work of him and his band, yet he does not recognize them. Waking late, the tape from the night before is hopelessly mangled in the malfunctioning player...

...playing alternately ethereal and dissonant yet traditional folkloric guitar among a celebratory seasonal gathering of gauchos on the pampas, the blood from the lamb's neck, smoke from the fire, the wine warm in it's leather pouch, he is both a stanger and at home among friends. How long has he been here, a gaucho? Thunderclouds aproach, lightning/drums?...

...lost and indifferent, roaming Buenos Aires in the rain, several women appear to be Kim, yet they are not. Then later some of them are, each a different age, yet changed. One of the Kims asks for a cigarette, staring intently at him as if in recognition. He gives her one, they do not speak...

...a thousand burning sunsets experienced at once, both in slow motion and accelerated...

...awakened roughly, drunk in the library face down among pages torn from several irreplaceable volumes of sheet music and poetry, he is detained by the police. He finds he can speak Portugese, but remembers only fragments of his experience. He also remembers fragments of experiences that are not his own. In trying to analyse these memories, they become indistinguishable. Finds folded pages in pocket, reading aloud to cellmates, the bird at the barred window is there and then gone...

so you weren't there? It was awesome.. I used to watch SY live performances on youtube and get really pissed off when they play things in a different way or the way Kim sings certain songs (ie The Sprawl) but once you're there you totally lose your mind and get totally into the music, jump and dance....going into a show and getting all analytic-critical its kinda like missing the point..shows are more about phisical performance and phisical response..in my opinion...plus, they played really neat. wish it was a bit louder but it was incredible.

WTF bunnynoyz..I watched the video and I was stunned! It was really fucking great.

Some lame cellphone-youtube videos don't say shit compared to the pro-video.

But also i think, that the fault was not entirely of SY. The situacion was horrible: the nightmare of calle 13 playing for too long, SY trying to get on stage to play, the low volume, the organization cutting the set and turning the lights on. And it seemed like they werent playing together for a while.
The sound was the worst, since the recording of consol that is in internet is great!
