But yeah- Zen Arcade is incredible. Not as good as New Day Rising, but incredible. Possibly the second most definitive and elemental album of 80's indie (next to you know what)

Hmm. I totally disagree, though I like every era of the Lips. Their most interesting albums are Priest Driven Ambulance, Zaireeka, Soft Bulletin, and Yoshimi, but every album has great moments.

I think CTM was a big step for them musically.

It still rocks my nuts if I listen to it either on Vinyl or with really good headphones, but the whole thing is mixed too low, and subtle mastering changes could turn it into the goddamn Mona Lisa.

I don't like much of the Who beyond their debut. I'm okay with Pink Floyd through DSOTM but they bore me after that. Not too crazy about any Kinks, believe it or not. Led Zep is boring after the first four albums.

dont get the Smiths, Ramones, fuck me i hate the manic street preachers, RHCP, pink floyd loads. i hate lots of things, but no one hates me for it because no one i know likes good music.

also, i bought a Cat Power album the other day (you are free) and while its not exactly thought of as classic Cat Power is thought of as pretty good (even Lee said so)
but it was pretty bland. except maybe 2 songs it was pretty dull

I've found that a lot of Matador stuff that's thought of as good is bland. That album was a favorite of mine when it first came out, and I think I'd still probably cry if I heard "I don't blame you", but yeah it is kind of mediocre.

agree, The Greatest is better imo.

Sebadoh III, a "classic" indie rock album. I bought the reissue more than 5 years ago and ive still never been able to get beyond 8 or 9 songs in a row without wanting to listen to someone else. Im not sure theres ever been an album ive paid full price for and listened to so little. Actually if someone in the London area wants to buy that off me do let me know.
