CSS is fairly straight forward, or atleast the basic/most important things.
call it "inhale deep" |

it's fairly straighforward until you find out that different browsers implement them differently and then oh then you have to start coming up with various hacks. but clean xhtml is pretty straighforward though. |
I think "Notes from the Underground" would be a good name...
|
Quote:
oh, thats a great name, mr. dostoevski ![]() unfortunately, the .com is taken by this (useless?) thing: http://notesfromtheunderground.com/ |
i thought you guys were trying NOT to be hip and pretentious.
|
Quote:
That's a good name, I was looking for something with a double meaning as well. Too bad it's taken :( |
Quote:
you could get a .net maybe? notesfromtheunderground.net looks empty. & it has the extra appeal of the alliteration (two n's) or put yourself on the waitlist for that one-- hasn't been updated in like 2 years? and it's just that crap page. you could start with the .net & then put yourself on the list for the .com & then use both domains. (don't bother with ".tv" ha ha). eh, i gotta get away for the weekend but have fun with this. -- ps godaddy has the cheapest domain names i think like 8 bucks. bye! |
damn i was almost gone & i remembered
you're in canada! notes... .ca seems empty bye |
Oh that sucks that it is taken...we'll think of something.
|
maybe a simpler name? i was thinking "hyperstation" .
|
how about ambiencefromtheunderground?
|
I went to that site and it fucking sux man, just one page lame.
|
"notes from the underground" sucks.
next thing you know, you'll want to call it "howl" or something...actually, howl is not that bad. anyways, i may suggest a name that's not like a phrase and something a little more vague and cool sounding, something in the line of tinymixtapes or dusted or even (shudder) pitchfork. |

I was about to post how bad of a name Notes from the Underground was. Way to be on top of things. |
lol you get repped for that.
|
We should think of something short and catchy that has to do with underground as a whole. Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep them coming! For now, the mock name will remain as Avante-Cure until we decide the real name
|
how about your name Inhuman?
|
Quote:
|
if you're gonna go with something regarding the "underground" why not use something cool like "sewer leak" or "aquifer." maybe "septic tank."
|
I like septic tank but it sounds too punk rock.
|
haha...
"Noise From The Underground" Nah... I like the idea of a 1 word type thing (like pitchfork). |
I'm already far too pretentious and indie to be part of something with a name like 'notes from the underground'. It would be mad amounts of overkill.
Anyways, I don't care what the name is. Call it something lame and ironic. |
"Irony isn't indie! It isn't even post-punk, or...or shoe-gaze!"
|
Exactly. I can't be any indier. It's fucking impossible. Name it something un-indie.
|
Let's call it Rather Ripped!
|
It should be name The Rolling Planet, as a spoof to The Rolling Stone.
|

haha, that's a little ambiguous. Do you mean "Inhuman" or "Avante-Cure"? I like Avante-Cure myself, that's what I*think* you were reffering to. It spoofs "avante core" and makes it seem like it's telling a solution to music that's ahead of it's time, the solution being elaborate articles. Thanks again for the suggestions! I could just imagine the coolest logo for "septic tank", but I'd want to change the interface to something darker, and dirtier looking. I can see it matching well with something to do with punk or hip hop. |
"avante-cure" sucks, sounds like a the cure fansite.
|
Quote:
I have to agree with you it does sound like a cure fan site. |
I liked Schizo's 'Hyperstation' name. Or go for something completely childish, such as Fondondo or Shagmaster.
|
Yes, it would be nice to get a name based off sonic youth!
As for mine, I would reccommend "Avante-Garden", but it sounds like a Furry fandom site. |
Hyperstation, so far, is the best name.
Surely we can do better. (says I who contributes nothing but criticism) |
Hyperstation sounds like a SY fan site...
"Ground Control"? (I was listening to Space Oddity, but it doesn't really sound too much like a David Bowie fan site) |
Quote:
it makes me think of UFO's though. Well lets see what we have here Catholic Block Cotton Crown Disconnection Reviews? Free City Rhymes Rain on Tin Saucer Like Reviews? We could possibly affiliate it with the saucerlike site. Skip Tracer Star Power I don't know about all of you, but Free City Rhymes sounds fucking ace. |
basically dont name it after anything, dont name it after a book, dont name it after a song, dont make sneak refrences with the name, dont make it a play on words.
needless to say i am a fan of "septic tank", "sewer leak", "gutter sluts", "ninja turtles" and anything nifty like that. specially "septic tank". |
Again, with the SY fan site thing, but FCR is the best one up there...
How about Ground Water? It's got that underGROUND thing going, plus it really doesn't have anything to do with anything which I think is good. |
Trying to sound as indie as possible I like the slogan:
"We're down til we're underground." Granted, it's stolen from a GUTG album title. |
How about HypeMachine?
|
I still stand by "Ground Water", as of now. What do you guys think?
|
It's a cool name.
