aw.

I think i had more girlfriends before the age of 7 than i did in the entire time from 7-18, so I clearly lost all my charm during my teenage years.

Severian 03.27.2012 05:17 PM

I am no longer feeling 90stalgic.

Nefeli 03.27.2012 05:18 PM

i was a daydreamer so i didnt miss having no bfs for long time especially during SCHOOL. you know, SCHOOL.

i was overprotective -rarely still might be- to the girls, friends of mine and lame boys.

hey do you know this painter?
http://www.robertlenkiewicz.com/
read few about him today...erm..not very font of, but i wanna read some more and give another look at his work. mostly the latter, just to see.

In truth, I hated so much of it. But nostalgia is not known for its accuracy or logic.

The grass was always greener.

nah
thats waste of your time.
and that ancient thrill - it was a thrill, but basically it was hard times.
anyhoo, i m lucky i dont feel the same, although i understand what you mean, and since i can get excited about stuff, i dont miss gettin excited about stuff, if you know what i mean.

Genteel Death 03.27.2012 05:23 PM

Nostalgia is remembering little and destroying EVERYTHING. Get over it, fuckers.

Hello sweets. Same. The only shopping I've done today is for decent ( I hope) hair clippers. My flatmate has been having trouble with bed bugs. Worried.

Nostalgia is repressing traumas and falsely remembering, and glorifying, an era that was actually baseline at best. More akin to denial than anything else.

The '90s were just as crap as the '00s, only I was slightly less ignorant about how truly shitty the world is than I was in the '00s or am now.

:fuckyou:, '90s.

Nefeli 03.27.2012 05:40 PM

actually its just a rare, very specific feeling in your guts. thats all.
it is very unique, and dangerous sort of,
thats why i cant entirely diss it.

He needs to stop being a backpacker. Pissed off about this but he's a nice guy. I'll talk him into moving to India or something.

I never get that into things anymore. Except for the occasional movie, that turns out to be worse than I thought it would be.

Now I casually pre-order vinyl and barely even notice when it gets here, or I just outright steal music. The only musical identity I have is what you see here, and what I talk about with my handful of real world friends with similar taste.

It's an oxymoron you like Sonic Youth and you feel nostalgic about things that ultimately are only music-related. Surely you can see where you've gone wrong yourself? It's cool though, nostalgia is a very appealing habit if you're ultimately lazy.

First comes the enjoyment. Externalising that enjoyment should be the last thing that crosses your mind.

yeah, i saw the full one with the naked man. But after seeing that i liked the detail better because you can see her eyes clearer, and that tells more of a story once you know she's cradling him.

I dont really feel comfortable in galleries, Ive never understood why pictures have to be viewed communally, it seems like the perfect medium for people to absorb alone

but you inhale alone while at a gallery.
at the same time you see people inhaling alone.
i think its a unique situation where people are alone and together. i like this.

you can look at pictures (or most anything for that matter) and do it intimately.

If another person strolls up next to me as im enjoying a picture in the Tate Modern, for example, i dunno, I just dont feel right. I realise Its my own problem, not the fault of other people. It might be similar to the way I can enjoy a game of football in a loud pub and certain of my friends cant; its not dependent on what youre observing, but the atmosphere in which youre taking it in, and whether you feel like you belong.

Art into pubs, football matches into art galleries, thats the way forward!

I currently hate nostalgia, but I'm starting to remember some of the great times I had back when I liked it... man, those were the good ol' days.

Nefeli 03.27.2012 06:19 PM

my only problem, and i m sorry but right now i only have Lucian Freud one 's in mind, was that i wanted to smoke after viewing smth that moved me, or you know cry (a BIT) even. basically it was the smoking thing.
also the shyness and again smoking thing that kept me from sitting and doing more drawings. i did a handful of really fast ones, like 20 secs each/ no, less. booohoo. didnt occur to me to do it earlier or planned. just happend towards the end of it. ouf.

It's a great concept the one of art getting out of galleries and standing next to you while you're engaging into human activity. I am totally for it. It only becomes complicated with works that thrive on a particular enviroment and aren't so malleable as sound, for instance.

perhaps im overly concerned with provocation, and the effect a provocative piece of art can have on its surroundings. I do feel that the sheer presence of other upright mammals can spoil the mood of certain things - if you were listening to a particular piece of music and then someone else wandered in, it would be like hearing someone's random voice whilst you were having a wank; it just ruins the mood

you must get thrown out of a lot of gigs.

gmku 03.30.2012 02:32 PM

There was a lot to like and dislike about the 90s. Like symbol-man, I hated the Singles movie. Also hated Reality Bites. Hated Pearl Jam, too.

On the other hand, there were the Breeders, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, MBV, Ride, Smashing Pumpkins, Throwing Muses, Pixies, JAMC, and many others I still love listening to.

And it was an awful fashion period. Stupid flannel. Stupid backwards baseball caps EVERYWHERE! Baggy ass grunge jeans. In fact, almost everything was oversized, especially for men. Sweaters and jackets were big. Ripped apart converse sneakers--oh, wait, I wear those.

I'm more inclined to like roughly 1987 to 1993 than strictly the 90s, though.

louder 03.30.2012 02:34 PM

Ten IS a terrible album. i'm glad we all came to an agreement.

gmku 03.30.2012 02:37 PM

No, they all moved to asheville.

louder 03.30.2012 02:39 PM

the 90's were.. well, i wouldn't know. i wasn't even 10 years old! :o

louder 03.30.2012 02:59 PM

gas prices!!

i need a time machine, NOW.

gmku 03.30.2012 03:30 PM

What's wrong with boney ass white girls? I don't remember the asses being so flat... actually a lot of them looked rather perfect. And an unfortunate too many were too big.

ann ashtray 03.30.2012 03:36 PM

In retrospect, the 90's did kind of suck. It was fun at the time but most of the accessible shit going on was very throw-away.

And singles is an awful movie.

gmku 03.30.2012 03:48 PM

Hmm. I don't think skinny girls have been particular to any decade, at least in my lifetime. I remember some really cute skinny girls in the 70s. Hmm, I guess I just like them skinny.

gmku 03.30.2012 03:48 PM

singles is a TERRIBLE movie.

knox 03.31.2012 12:44 AM

yes, i feel nostalgic about the 90's everyday.
every fucking day.
