It's equality for me. I don't like hairy armpits etc on girls, and I don't expect a girl to just accept hair running rapid on my body either just because I'm a guy. Maintenance on both behalfs is good, I think.

Fair enough! I guess it really all sums down to the couple's preferences on the matter, but what if you get into the situation where she doesn't intend on shaving, but you do? I doubt this happens very often, but it would be interesting to see the turnout if it was reverse roles

hehe :)

Happy new year Jade! And you too Norma! That must be a bummer having to do a project over the break :(. When do you start school? I don't have to go back until the 19th, so I'm staying around here in montreal for a little while longer! Good luck with the project

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 12:50 AM

happy new year rob :)

eh, i'm used to working all year round. i go back on the eighth. and gracias! i have a teeny bit done of the actual thing, but then there's all of the extraneous shit like annotated bibliographies that i loathe.

Norma J 01.02.2007 12:55 AM

Well happy new year to both of you too. Although it's the 2nd here. Nearing the 3rd in a few hours time.

Inhuman 01.02.2007 12:56 AM

You're telling me! Bibliographies are terrible, and you have to put them in such a precise format that it's really difficult not to write it wrong. Is it an essay? I'm starting to enjoy writing essays if I get to choose the topic, but otherwise they're not my favorite thing in the world.

As for working, this is probably my longest break I'll get until next year's Christmas holidays, because during the summer I work full time.

Yeah, it just turned the 2nd here an hour ago, but I barely made any posts because I was busy last night, so I thought I'd make up for it now :)

John Violence 01.02.2007 12:58 AM

I left my computer on here for like two hours. I got distracted and watched a Thin Lizzy video then played guitar. Tomorrow I go to a studio and make an album with my band!

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 01:06 AM

that's leet, john. if you have any copies for sale afterwards.. ding ding.

it's a powerpoint about the rise and fall of julius caesar. i hate it.

i like writing essays. the fcat writing tests were horrible, though. last year our topic was "what's your favorite book and why" or something like that. if you go off topic you automatically get a zero, and i would have done that but i didn't feel like it.

Inhuman 01.02.2007 01:13 AM

Best wishes on that John!

Souds like a boring project :(. Powerpoints are annoying, I have to do a couple of them a semester. And going off topic is the best! (unless you get a 0). I usually don't do it when writing paragraphs, but whenever it's a one-line answer that I don't know, I often find myself doing things like:

What does a layer mask do in Photoshop? KILL YR IDOLZ, JOANNE
How do you create a custom color pallette? (drawing of an alien licking a shoe)

She gets really annoyed, but I find it interesting seeing her reaction

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 01:18 AM

we have to do a lot of them. this is a school-wide thing, which makes it worse. i have to take time from my normal soul-sucking academics to do this.

haha. last year in my journals we had to do for english, phoebe and i (phoebe is the coolest human being ever and i introduced her to deerhoof, so more points for her) would write these goofy notes to our teacher in the margins like "HEY! vere are de nuclear veapons?!" and stuff. i did it in my formal stuff for that class too. it was fun.

John Violence 01.02.2007 01:19 AM

When I was a senior my government class did a fake trial and one of the lawyers pulled out a picture of Chewbaca and did the South Park Chewbaca defense. He got an F but it was really funny.

Haha nice! I love it when you write messages like that and they don't know what to do, so they just draw arrows and question marks around it. I haven't heard Deerhoof yet, but luckily I have my headphones on so I can check them out right now

lmao. i think i can take that class next year, but i'm not sure. if i do, i'll remember that.

rob- i know! but sometimes my teacher would respond and go "de nuclear veapons are in de tent" or something.

deerhoof own, and i will be front row at their show next month, so it'll be.. awesome.

ahhahaha, that sounds hilarious! Sometime this upcoming semester I'll make a thread about funny test answers and I'll upload picture of my test too. The only downside is that my teachers determine whether I get to go on paid co-op this summer, and that could influence their decision on letting me go or not

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 01:27 AM

oh, sweet.

i'll upload some pictures from this journal i'm talking about, if i can find it. i have papers from first grade stashed in my closet. i need to throw away a lot of stuff.

My school's too small for a government class. Your teachers respond to them? I only had one interesting teacher that loved things like that. He gave us bonus marks on our final exam if everybody in the room wore completely black head to toe, so when the moderators walk in they got super confused as to why the whole class was wearing black

John Violence 01.02.2007 01:29 AM

In Biology the old bassist of my band didn't know anything about some essay question so he wrote the lyrics to an Iron Maiden song instead. We both would write shitty song lyrics in World History and get away with it because the teacher was really old.

Norma J 01.02.2007 01:33 AM

I remember once during a test in science, a dude hopped up on his desk being a dickhead and the fan knocked him out.

well, my english teacher last year was just really cool. he acted more like a kid than a big scary teacher guy.

that is too awesome. last year we had a big paper ball fight (in english, the only class i remember every single day of) and through the window in the door, we could see the principal walking by and we were all yelling "DUDE, SIT DOWN!" and etc. thank god he didn't walk in. the room was a mess.

john- haha. i did that a lot back in seventh grade in my reading teacher's class. to be poetic in my "writing log" i'd just write song lyrics.

I've never done entire songs myself, but it would be funnier if I could. They only allow a certain amount of space on the digital tests, so it's hard.

Jade - Deerhoof sound really interesting! They're like a mixture of Paper Rad and Cibo Matto

Norma J 01.02.2007 01:37 AM

You guys do digital tests?

two years ago in my science class, we had a sub, and during the video we weren't really paying attention and being loud. this kid, one of the class clowns (aka, most of the males in the room) told all of us to put on a surprised face. he went around going "don't laugh, don't laugh" and we thought he'd just do something small, but he had this amazing fake seizure that was the best two minutes of school in my life.

Norma J 01.02.2007 01:38 AM

I remember once at school a student got a teacher that upset she ran out of the room cryin. Infact I think that happened a few times where teachers would refused to teach the class again.

I remember once a teacher through me up against the wall because he misterpreted/misunderstood what I was saying to another student. He thought I was bagging him out.

oh god, my gifted class. elementary school, with the kids a grade below us, we were angels. but all throughout middle school, we never had a sub come back for our class more than once. a few braved it twice or three times. i'm sick of all the people now (most) but those were some of the best times.

damn.

John Violence 01.02.2007 01:43 AM

My favorite moment of High School was when the the Upright Students Brigade (the singer and drummer of my band plus four other people) ran into my Algebra 2 class in spandex, masks, and nurf guns, ran around for 20 seconds making wierd noises and shooting thier guns and then ran out. The teacher tried to stop one of the guys from getting out the door but he shot her with a nurf gun and she flinched. They ended up getting suspended for a week.

Norma J 01.02.2007 01:43 AM

I don't see anyone that I went to school with. I'm quite happy about that. And it will remain that way.

Jade - haha, that's amazing! It must have been hilarious to see. One of my brothers classmates had to do a video for a french class project, and well...he actually filmed a pornographic video of him and his partner and they talked french throughout the video. The worst part was that there was a school board representative evaluating the class too, so it made the teacher look really bad. Surprisingly enough he only got suspended.

I hope it will be like this for me. Throughout my childhood I hung out with a crowd of people who I can't identify with anymore. And we have been friends since elementary school so it's difficult to just cut off the relationship. There's only two or 3 people from my childhood that I still get along with. I don't like anybody at all from my school other than my friend Eric (littlepuppetboy) and a few of the Liberal Arts students. All the people in my Publication & Design program really don't seem to care about what they're doing and have very conservative, holistic views on the world and art in general.

Awesome! Cibo Matto is a japanese group that used to play with the Plastic Ono Band, and their stuff is beyond diverse. It changes sound drastically from song to song. Paper Rad is an eletronic band that often makes their insturments. My brother's friends with them all and they made one of Lightning Bolt's videos. Actually, if it wasn't for Paper Rad I wouldn't be posting here. In one of their videos they randomly flash "SONIC YOUTH" for no apparent reason and I wanted to know what it was about, so I googled it and loved them.

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 01:56 AM

oh, that is rad. (pun! hah!)

soulseek yields nothing, however.

i saw "sonic youth" in teen vogue, but it was just a random caption of this picture of a girl band. but that was yesterday morning.

i like a few people from each different group. i don't like the jocks/cheerleader kind of people, but luckily for me there's not many of them in ib. i have five people i'd call my very close friends, then just.. connected people that i know enough to hang with in class (like band).

That's good that you have 5 dedicated friends. I'd much rather have 5 friends that you can talk on an emotional level to than 100 who you can't. I had a huge group of close friends last year, but I started disliking them because they started stealing from each other (including me), and got hooked on MDMA, and they're like zombies right now, only scene. So I just stick with my friends who I know wouldn't do things like that

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 02:03 AM

i can't stand people that act like they have a thousand best friends, but really can't tell you shit about any of them.

i did too. you know how that turned out. the main girl behind it all took this other one to massachusetts to visit her family and ski and drink cocoa, and she ended up leaving a whole week early because she was homesick. it cracked me up. i mean, how rude can you be?

schizophrenicroom 01.02.2007 02:07 AM

Really? That is rude. I would never be able to leave my friend hanging like that. One time I was invited to my friend's cottage for a week the few day s after I took a trip down to Toronto with him for 2 weeks, and I wasn't really willing to go, and now I feel bad about it, but it was nowhere near as bad as that.

Oh, here's the paper rad video in case you're interested. It's about 3 minutes, and the very end is one of their more nintendo-inspired songs. Not really a good example of their music though
