Pitchfork tried to act like his verse on “Cop Shoots Kid” is right wing “all-sides” propaganda... cakes it disingenuous. Like a bunch of white people get to decide if Kanye’s still culturally black enough to talk about black issues? There’s something *scary* fucked about that. And I was more pissed than anyone I know about his Trump comments. But lord fucking have mercy, this is some bullshit. |
long shot: anyone aware of a source that has all (or most) of Mos Def's guest spots I can listen to?
Don't feel like making a playlist or mix myself and I'm hoping someone else went through the effort. |
pull up n wreck.....

Well... Spotify and Apple Music come to mind. Some of his early guest spots are hard to come by, like the stuff from Soundbombing Vol. 1, but most of them should be available on the regular platforms. I’ll look for a list though, if you want. (Also you can go ahead and start with his most recent feature, the song “Kids See Ghosts” form the album “Kids See Ghosts” by Kids See Ghosts. :D |
Too busy listening to Sebadoh, but I'll check it out. :-)
I actually have all 3 Soundbombings on CD. Cuz I'm dope. And they were about 3 bucks each at the used store. Again, a list to read isn't hard to come by, but I don't wanna hunt down every track to listen to. Wasn't sure if there was a mixtape or something already out there. Man... There's something about Mos that annoys me. He's really arrogant or something. But holy fuck he's a truly great rapper. Spent about a half hour last night carefully examining the lyric to "Hip Hop" like I would a poem for English class. |

He used to be my favorite, back when his career average was significantly better. In like 2002. |
Yeah, what's up with THE NEW DANGER? I think it kinda sucks, but I've only spun it two or three times. Because it sucks--vicious circle. I don't think I'll ever get into that one.

Had a couple good tracks, but mostly yeah, huge drop off from Black on Both Sides. It’s better than True Magic, though. He REALLY bounced back with The Ecstatic, which I think is the best and most consistent of his albums by far. Then he went dark for nearly a decade and crapped out that Tidal exclusive half-assed Yeezus tribute album in 2016 or whatever. Blech Kids See Ghosts though. |
Mac Miller's new single and music video are surprisingly beautiful:

I'll assume anyone with ears can agree "Auditorium" is the dopest beat ever laid down. Strangely, Def's rap isn't among his best. Not bad, but doesn't rise to the glorious heights he's capable of. Rick's verse is a triumph tho. **** Are you starting to think KIDS beats out YE, even if just by a little? |
Mos openly tried to emulate MF DOOM throughout The Ecstatic.

I think Kids is a more consistent album, but I prefer ye. I REALLY wish he’d just marketed them as EPs though. Because Jesus they are short. And “Ye” has a couple cringey moments on “Violent Crimes” despite being sonically awesome. If he called it an EP, the bad reviews would bounce off his proper discography. Calling it an album, with audiences and critics so freaking split, hurts a bit, because his record was just pristine. Kids See Ghosts works at that length. But I wish there was either more to Ye or that it could fall into the “EP” category. Still, all the songs are great, and I think “Ghost Town” really makes it. As do “I thought About Killing You” and “Yikes.” Ye is my fave, but KSG works a little better. I wouldn’t want a full album of potential Cudi mishaps. I still can’t believe it came out so goddamn perfect. |

That’s ok though. Better than what he’d been doing. |

Hey did we already talk about Kanye producing a 7-song Chance album? |

Oh, and “No Mistakes.” Fucking shit that’s some good stuff. Oh yeah |
I just got my physical copy of “Ye” by the way

Listening to the new Chief Keef mixtape and I really like the first song.
Don’t really want to like it, but I do. The rest of it probably sounds like nothing and everything, I’ll bet. |

Rich Homie Quan show on Friday was good. Openers sucked. The Bar he played at had a broken AC, which was fucked how. (It was 102 in Houston on Friday), but Rich Homie Quan still put on a great set, and hyped it up and it was awesome.
