It's really difficult to say, other than to give you my personal top ten or something (which I'll do if you like).

There's a 'best of' from a few years ago called '50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong' that can usually be picked up very cheap - it's got lots of tracks on. Maybe you could buy that them base future purchases on what you like most?

finding nobody 09.11.2006 01:15 PM

That sounds good. I got into Pink Floyd by their greatest hits record also

Hip Priest 09.11.2006 01:22 PM

There's too much concentration on the early years (ie pre '86) for my tastes, and I don't really think the best of those years are on the compilation (no 'City Hobgoblins' or 'English Scheme') But...when it's a band with such a prolific output as The Fall then it's no bad thing to get an overview. For many fans the years 78 - 84 or so are The Fall's best, but I personally think they only became great in 1986 with 'Bend Sinister', so there's plenty of difference in opinion. They cover so many sounds and styles, too, that a best-of is a decent idea. '50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong' is in chronological order, so you'll get a sense of the band's development.
