Yea i like a great deal of the Dischord punk groups, Jawbox are awesome!

I would add Q and not U to the list of good pop punk bands too.

king_buzzo 02.19.2007 03:06 PM

Blondie.

I never tire of them. I even find stuff to like on their (crappier) somewhat recent releases.

guitarpro 02.20.2007 02:41 AM

The Ramones

Jawbox freakin' rules. They always seemed underrated to me. Saw em live a couple times.

That's a good 'un, but For Your Own Special Sweetheart is my fave. I remember seeing the Savory video on 120 minutes and being instantly blown away by that song.

Georgekrz 02.20.2007 09:36 AM

do you know Black Lips? is that punk? I just call it good music(they put on killer show).

also anyone see Silversun Pickups on leno last night? great band.

lungfish 02.20.2007 09:55 AM

i caught them.
i think that single of theirs sounds better when the singer is screaming, as he does near the end of the song, rather than the light, whispery singing.
sounds so much stronger and powerful that way. the whole song should've been like that.
when i went to their myspace page and heard how polished the song sounded it was a turn off.
great song though.

Depends what you're referring to as 'pop punk'. If you're referring to bands such as the Buzzcocks, The Ramones etc, then you're also referring to the Clash etc, and that was/is punk and I very much like it. But if you're referring to the 'so cal' stuff like NOFX, Blink 182, Lagwagon etc, then no, I'm not a fan of pop punk.

The Lost Patrol Band are awesome.

Inhuman 02.21.2007 12:33 AM

haha, I don't even know what to call them. Folk punk? Just acoustic? I have one of their albums, it's the one with just Lisa and Dennis
