animal collective = overrated

i hate how crowded their albums sound, so overproduced and noisy (in a bad way), its really not good at all.

i absolutely love LOVE the hollindagain material but everything else is terrible, terrible.....


and panda bear's solo work is quite good.....

well i like their records and as i said they schtuff does not shine properly live as it comes out oversimplified & without textures. i do love the crowded character which so bugs you, but then again, de gustibus non est disputandum etc etc.

It is good. Less crazy than Here Comes the Indian I'd say.

Hollinndagain is an experience to say the least. The music is so completely organic, not drenched with effects like their more recent material. Not that this is a bad thing but the fact that avey tare pounds on his chest steady for a few minutes to make a certain vocal effect in one of the songs is completely amazing to me, it proves that they were just as inventive in their earlier days as to now.

If you hate the overcrowded sound, get Spirit and Danse Manatee...
