i think it is one of those things you just know. i know that while i find many women to be very sexy/beautiful/attractive whatever, sexually i prefer men. does that make me any more normal than if i were to prefer women sexually? no.

I fail to see where gays are ever ridiculed on TV. The problem is that they perpetuate stereotypes, such as butchy dykes and feminine fags, but homophobia is definitely NOT pc these days.

Sorry if my opinions bother you; so much for "tolerance."

Cantankerous said "How do you know you're gay if you've never tried it?" well yeah, that theory basically applies to everything in life. How do you know you'd like sucking dick, ass fucking, handballing, etc. if you've never tried it?

I've had a few girlfriends, and I did not enjoy eating all of their pussies, gnome sayin'?

I live in a part of the country with one of the highest concentrations of homosexual people. Their whole secular culture is very interesting to me. It seems a viable method of birth control, for sure!

I don't understand why some of you are getting so pissy about a simple question being asked.

I certainly was not trying to insult Alex's Trip, but evidence from his posts he's a pretty confused 16 year old... but who wasn't? The question should be, what happened in 7th grade that led to WHAM being interested in other dudes?

Sorry, I'm student of psychology, I enjoy twittering with people's beliefs and seeing how dear they really hold them. And if you're going to go all full-disclosure on a very public message board, you should expect things like that.

I was hardly rude.

PS- some people DO have glass-eating fetishes... http://today.reuters.com/tv/videoStory.aspx?storyID=4faa9787d8e5ad20f81617f60b 0552072cb6ceb0

Normality is based on laws of averages, is it not? I also find it interesting that the ones getting most defensive are the ones who identify themselves as gay!

jeez folks... i'm listening to David Tibet and Douglas Pearce right now, don't get yr panties in a twist...

SynthethicalY 03.20.2007 11:14 PM

That is just sick, I mean glass eating fetishes.

i don't see anything unusual or abnormal about being gay. you can't help who you are.

I'm not confused. I know what I am. But I just wasn't completely accepting of it. Coming out to my parents is a step that I took that will help me lead to acceptance. I may have come off as confused because I wasn't necessarily happy with being gay because I had the dread of coming out to my parents. But I certainly am not confused. I have never been attracted to girls. Ever. I can't imagine that I ever will be.

I don't feel as if I am being defensive. I've just been trying to answer your questions and explain myself.

but that's the same excuse numerous pedophiles and murderers have given to justify their behavior. Fortunately for you, your actions have not harmed anyone (so far as I know).

i don't know how old you are, where you live, etc., but here in western MA there's nothing abnormal about being gay, certainly, but head on out to Wyoming and I'm sure you'll get a different perspective.

and you certainly can "help who you are." we are biological organisms with a propensity towards learned behavior. need i remind you of pavlov and skinner's work? it's certainly been applied to humans since rats and dogs. if someone has a negative trait about themselves, they can work to change it.

jose delgado was an expert in brain surgery. it is alleged that he managed, via stimulation of electrodes in the brain, to change sexuality in both heteros and homos.

william burroughs has written some fascinating essays on the subject of sexual conditioning.

Cantankerous 03.20.2007 11:32 PM

i can't force myself to suddenly like women. i'm naturally attracted to men. it's just how i am.

Just say to them that if they want to talk or if they have any questions to just ask you about it. This is new to them as well.

Heterosexuality is not normal, it's just common...

Who said that? Can't remember. It's in a Noise Conspiracy album cover though.
