Clue: ...a musical group from Hamburg, Germany. Founded in 1980 as an all-girl band, they became successful outside their native country. Vocalist Anja Huwe was often compared to contemporaries like Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie & the Banshees). ...last album released in 1989. |
Xmal Deutschland.

I'm going to be a rotten spoilsport, and say to sarramkrop - that photo be Xmal Deutschland.
As for Madonna - my sister used to be a huge fan of hers, but me not at all. I played her "Into The Groovey" once, and she said that the only good thing about it was the Madonna samples. To be fair, she weren't half right about that. |
![]() Clue: They covered Madonna's Angel. |
that early 80s pop at times has a real authenticity to it, i mean in the sense of hiring good songwriters, some really soulful lyrics, and actually wanting not wanting to tip over a Daughtry billboard in a wal-mart kind of gut reaction
i will say that i think as time looks back on it, the early 80s pop stands up better then most of the mainstream slock-rock hangovers from the 70s |

Their second album had the word panic in the title. |
That Petrol Emotion?
Assuming that's correct: ![]() No Madonna link here - Donna Summer instead. |
Nope. Here's another clue: They have a MBV-sounding first album.
|
I don't have any Madonna albums. Should I?

I'm going home in a sulk now, 'cos I couldn't get the answer.
Well, actually, I'm going home reasonably happy, because it's Friday, so i have two days away from this hellhole. Have a good weekend. |
Ray of Light
last one is a good one too! Jump! |
You too have a good one.
|
i love madonna, but i think she's more of a singles than an album person.
go on with your "guess that post punk band" game. |

I concur, which is why I plumped for Ray of Light. I have to say I'm missing two albums off that list (shocking, I know), and I wouldn't say the Ray of Light era is her best stuff - however, it is one of her few consistently great albums. Were I to choose based on my favourite singles off an album, my choice would be very different. Enjoy the nostalgia coffin-dodgers. |
Erotica, followed by Ray of Light and MAdonna.
Ray of Light almost wins for having Candy Perfume Girl on, but not quite. |

I used to make a pretty decent living djing '80s pop, and yet I totally disagree with your statement. I'm sure age has a lot more to do with it than anything, but to me, I have way more nostalgia for '70s disposable pop than '80s. Even on an '80s night, ABBA is a more sure dancefloor filler than 90% of '80s bands. |

oh i ain't talking good 70s pop, i am talking the Journeys, Steve Millers, and others of the overblown mainstream rock scene, at which point punk and the new wave of british heavy metal had upstaged, 70s pop and disco is quite good, but it's more an aritist by artist deal, can't really decide what era I like better |
