I think a thousand leaves is like a more mature version of bad moon rising.

You know, Mark Prindle said something to that effect in his review for it, but I just don't hear it at all. They couldn't sound more opposite to my ears.

they just both sound very autumny to me.

"hoarfrost" and "intro" for example.. both have very cold distant but lovely chiming notes.. haha. I dunno. I just get a similiar somewhat dark detached vibe from both albums.

still one of my favourites. murray street on top, after that 1kleaves, DDN, NYG&F, Sister are constantly fighting agaist each other

Hmm, interesting. I always related Bad Moon Rising and NYC Ghosts & Flowers, because they both have that nocturnal atmosphere... but I also always related NYC Ghosts & Flowers and A Thousand Leaves, so I guess you may be right

I wasn't aware that they stopped making amazing records.

My only problem with ATL is the vocals. I've never felt they sit quite right in the mix. But the songs are great.

I genuinely think this may be thee quintessential SY record. first one I ever got (Christimas 98, present from my aunt)
have since acquired the luscious double wax edition.

I still don't enjoy ATL though hah. Well, it's alright, I'm just not into the bulk of the tracks.

i love the delicate balance between the melodic noise and the
"fragile" structure of their songs.
