If grunge isn't dead, may I offer to smother it with a pillow?

Bicorn Halfelven 06.18.2007 10:52 AM

The SY/Grunge correlation doesn't stop at just music...

X-Girl anybody?

Marc Jacobs' "grunge" collection?

sonicl 06.18.2007 10:54 AM

X-Girl was the female version of the Beastie Boys' X-Large. Nothing to do with grunge.

Well with the born of the grunge started a new fashion and in the majority of the cases it is looked slightly more spiritual (as Nirvana) and something less commercial(as Nirvana) But the circumstances and the commercial success did of Nirvana one more commercial product, probably Kurt to turns turned into a mere commercial success it is possible that it has been one of the reasons of his death. Many groups never signed with big record for his dignity. Nirvana signed with DGC records thanks to SY.

And one thing swa(y) do you really think that nirvana is a PUNK BAND???

yeah i think Nirvana was actually an offshoot of "post-punk", especially if you take a look at what influenced Cobain and Co.

I've never seen anyone use the word "grunge" so much... its really a poor generalized description of the music of that era, and as someone said before all of those bands were quite desparate in sound from each other.

hardcore kids used to wear flannel, the minutemen wore flannel, hüsker dü wore flannel.

Wow, I can't exactly decipher what you stating because the grammer is pretty "off" but i must say i recommend you get off the "grunge" wagon because (1) Its boring (2) its over their is other music to listen to (3) its lame to dwell on the past...
i mean c'mon the music from 1991-1994 was not THAT GREAT??? WTF???

In answer to your question,
Yes.
Let it rest in peace.

Grunge schmunge. Grunge, like punk, "died" from the first moment it became appropriated by mainstream culture/fashion/media etc. Anyone else remember Bruce Willis and Demi Moore showing off their grunge wear?

how could one tell with Bruce? he always looked like he just came out of a gutter holding a bottle of Thunderbird

MellySingsDoom 06.18.2007 06:05 PM

^^^Ah, but that's the genius of the Willis. Every era needs a solid, all-American guy reeking off cheap cider and Lucky Strike. And boy, Willis has seen many an era. Still, let's not be too hard on the guy - he did give the world "The Return Of Bruno".

ALIEN ANAL 06.19.2007 07:32 AM

ill join in on this
my simple answer to theis question is
to me 'grunge' is just the shit dudes playen music, some of them were good.
There will always be shit dudes, playing simple riffs and being good at it.
:D

not that everyone who chooses to chooses to wear old clothes/not wash their clothes is homeless.
ive got two pair of jeans that get washed (between the two) maybe 5-6 times a year. i am by no means "grunge". i just dont like the stiffness that comes with washing denim.
people in the northwest were wearing flannel and thermal undershirts for years. it can get cold up there....it had nothing what-so-ever to do with am anti-fashion (which in turn is still a fashion) statement.
there were alot of good bands coming out of the early 90's. not all of them were from the northwest united states.
theres good stuff going on now. theres good stuff not even remotely associated with "grunge" that im sure kurt would have loved. and i highly doubt anything hed be playing now would sound like anything he did with nirvana.

Not, I have underpants that I do not wash for years and do not think that these underpants are "grunge", a few trousers or a rescholarship do not do a person grunge, but the person is the one that does that these clothes are grunge.

therealglenstyler 06.19.2007 09:31 AM

woah, this 'grudge' thing sounds awesome, tell me more!

luxinterior 06.19.2007 10:21 AM

Terrible, boring music.

sarramkrop 06.19.2007 10:23 AM

Not only grunge is dead and buried, but it seems like it has killed a few people's brain cells on its way to the grave.

gmku 06.19.2007 10:26 AM

Guitar is dead. Drum is not dead.
