I just didn't wanted it to be the last post, of the previous page.

Only on my bicycle. Racing is too dangerous in a car or other motor vehicle.

It is possible to break ones reactions to any stimuli down to Categorisation, Stereotyping, and Prejudice. In Lehmans terms they are the 3 stages that one goes through when one learns that grass is green, rain is cold, 1+1 is 2. The thing with people is there isnt so much of a uniform pattern, which creates cognitive dissonance. So if you like noisy music that should ring true to you

i am a little prejudist but try not to really take it into account at all.

Glice 06.25.2008 10:47 AM

I'm prejudiced against psychology/ sociology/ philosophy/ linguistics students making sweeping statements then wearing smug faces like they've solved the world.

Strangely, I admire economics students that do the same.

jonathan 06.25.2008 10:59 AM

As a sociologist, I am going to make a sweeping statement: If you haven't actively purged yourself of racism and were born in the United States, then you are probably a racist.

just sayin.

Fuck man, I hate it when I go to a bar with some friends and a friend of a friend overhears that I'm a philosophy major and asks me "so what is your philosophy on life?" As much as Glice might possibly like the idea that such students bring it on themselves, that kind of smug simplification is often prompted of us.

I don't have a pez-sized answer to all woes and joys.

I was a philosophy student as well, I'm feeling your pain. I'm also going back to study Theology, so I'm criticising myself as much as anything else.

The ones that irk(ed) me most are those who say 'Philosophy, eh? You should read Bruce Lee's book. It's really deep and philosophical, you'd probably like it'.

ALIEN ANAL 06.25.2008 11:19 AM

when you say racism... we arnt including against blacks are we?

You're in IT, right? If I meet someone socially and their eyes don't glaze over at me mentioning I work with computers it's always "Ah! I've got a problem with my PC - you know when you're in that programme that's got a blue background? Well, there's a funny box comes up - I forget what colour it is - what do you reckon's wrong with my computer? Virus?"

floatingslowly 06.25.2008 11:31 AM

have you tried rebooting?

:)

Everyneurotic 06.25.2008 11:49 AM

hahahahaha.

i'm afraid to mention to people i'm reading also sprach zarathustra because i might get prompted the twatish questions "are you a nihilist?" or "what's your take on his philosophy".

also, when i say what i studied in college i get either of this questions asked "what the fuck did you study that for?" and "is it, like, sales?". i also get the defining answer "you don't look like one".

m1rr0r dash 06.25.2008 12:25 PM

at least when people hear i'm studying architecture and say "oh, maybe you can design a house for me!" i can say "sure, what's your budget?" at which point they usually remember that they were never going to hire an architect to design their house in the first place.

oh, ha ha, i just realized, you haven't emptied your inbox in ages.

oh JESUS CHRIST, i hated reading that book in public. i got "what's a zarathustra" or "you read weird books!" and all sorts of shit.

when people ask for my grand scheme in life, i say "well, probably i'm going to study communications and art history and do stuff in advertising or writing or PR", they look at me like a twit for not becoming a lawyer or something puffed up and useless.
