Loop - "A Gilded Eternity"
The Ex - "Aural Guerilla"

PAULYBEE2656 07.09.2008 03:51 PM

lets rename this thread the best albums ever......

rock is such a broad open bracketed sort of thing...

minutemen, hendrix, the fall, wire, the ex, loop, not exactly "rawk" in the spinal tap sense now is it?

MellySingsDoom 07.09.2008 03:53 PM

I tells ya, if demonrail were here and saw my selection, he'd have such a fit - mainly for not including the New York Dolls or Avril "I Am More Rock Than You" Lavigne.

gmku 07.09.2008 04:03 PM

gmku's next 10

New York Dolls (s/t)
Stooges - Fun House
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Spacemen 3 - Perfect Prescription
Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk
The Feelies - Crazy Rhythm
Television - Marquee Moon
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks...
Brian Jonestown Massacre - Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request
The Dwarves - Blood, Guts & Pussy

MellySingsDoom 07.09.2008 04:06 PM

^^^ Crazy Rhythm! Not much you hear mentioned a huge amount these days:

gmku 07.09.2008 04:09 PM

So good. I searched for that one for years and years and then one day this past fall I happen to walk into the store and there it is in the new arrivals part of the used LPs bin. And for only 6 bucks! A practically perfect copy too!

They sure looked nerdy on stage, though, didn't they.

gmku 07.09.2008 04:11 PM

Next up somewhere would be:

MBV - Loveless
The Who - My Generation
VU - Unripened
MBV - Isn't Anything
Sonic Youth - Dirty
Battles - Mirrored
and bunches more, too much to go on like this...

gmku 07.09.2008 04:14 PM

I love the Feelies btw. All their stuff.

MellySingsDoom 07.09.2008 04:25 PM

I think the Feelies' ultra nerdiness is certainly part of their charm. I'd certainly would have hung out with them rather than Minor Threat, that's for sure.

gmku 07.09.2008 04:39 PM

Definitely. They're much more fun.

& the 80s feelies only look nerdy in retrospect. Back in the day they seemed, at least to me, more college-preppy than anything. Like early Talking Heads.

gmku 07.09.2008 04:42 PM

I'm thinking of so much more that should belong in my top 30 or so albums. Fugazi's Repeater, Nirvana's Bleach, some Dinosaur LPs, Meat Puppets, Dylan. It all deserves to be up there.

gualbert 07.09.2008 04:50 PM

I like Time For A Witness a lot , by the Feelies, but Crazy Rythms , not a bit.

I found an urge overkill album on vinyl at salvation army for 3 bucks in good condition. Don't remember what it's called but it has the 3 of them on the cover. It sucks bad. I have heard some songs by them before that are good though.
