the fries look good but i don't even like the look of veggie hot dogs and i love them.

Everyneurotic 07.22.2008 12:22 AM

ahh the fries, i can't wait now!! i'll rush from the airport to coney island to eat at nathan's

uhler 07.22.2008 12:24 AM

yeah there's this place near where i live that sells the most amazing fries. it's only 6 bucks for fries and a veggie burger too!

i need to go to coney island one day just for those fries.

Everyneurotic 07.22.2008 12:26 AM

coney island is a trip, i love it.

Silent Barn is another cool and really weird music venue. But it's a bit of a hike out in Brooklyn, and I can't vouch for the musicians playing there during your trip: http://www.myspace.com/thesilentbarn

I also think Cake Shop consistently has decent music, although more towards the pop side, rather than "avant-garde" or experimental: http://cake-shop.com/

A pastrami sandwich at Katz's deli is a very American (and particularly NYC) eating experience.

Just curious, how do you get pretentiousness from the Stone? Pretentiousness is usually considered a negative quality, so I'm just wondering how this artist run venue is pretentious.

By all means rock out, but I'm trying to save you from a mediocre, safe, predictable experience. Unless that's what you want. I used to dig some songs on the first album by the Jungle Brothers back back in the 1980's.

But on behalf of all of the residents of NYC, thank you for coming here and spending your money. Its all that saves us being Sacramento.

Yep, bit of a joke there...... ooooo this is awkward....

Meh, not my sort of thing I'm afraid.

Does anyone know anything about this free Jungle Brothers gig? Though its free, are there a limited amount of tickets too it, or can I just turn up?

Another question - are taxis in New York cheap?

krastian 07.23.2008 10:51 AM

Hit up some art galleries in Soho.

Relative to other cities, yes. Certainly cheaper than London from what I recall. But keep in mind that you're expected to tip.
