urban guerilla
actually i just listened to it again. it's alright, not great. just a rock song. also, i must say, fuck the NME. i had a subscription to it awhile back and i cancelled it because i think it was costing me £80 a year or some ridiculous bullshit like that. hi demonrail. |
So Primal Scream have named one of their new songs after a Hawkwind single?
£80 a year for a bunch of press releases and pointless record reviews = FAIL. You did the right thing cancelling the subs - there's so much more better writing on the Internet/blogosphere these days, I feel. |
i don't read any of it anyway
just interviews, not reviews or anything because all music journalism is is rehashings of the same 10 words rearranged once in awhile, but still saying the same thing. |
Bit off topic (actually, very off topic) - Have you ready any of the Lester Bangs books? I'm a big fan of his writings on music etc.
|
no but i have many old issues of creem which i've read and i have to say, he's one of the only decent rock writers to ever walk the earth. i think a lot of people didn't understand his humour though.
|
Definitely agree with you re. his humour. His "fight" interviews with Lou Reed are priceless, and his essay "Of Pop, Pies and Fun" is (as demonrail said) one of the best pieces of "rock" writing full stop.

"If I wanted to shit in a cop's mouth I wouldn't tell you about it. Not that I do, but I might"
who said that? guess. |
Probably me after half a handle of tequila?
More like a quarter, actually. |

Tis true - the album after that though - nooooooooo!
|
give out but don't give up? with get your rocks off on it?
is that the name of it? i don't think i even own that one. |
Yep, that be the one.
Sub-standard Deputy Dawg boogie riffing from Brits = NO. Trippy psych-dance-rock souffles - I'll have a double portion, please. |
stone stone stone stooone in love with youuuuuu
it sounds like the rolling stones. it sounds like a keith song, like comin down again. so does movin on up. but it sounds like a mick song. |
i just spent a good minute or so crying with laughter at the movin on up video
hhahahaha |
Ha ha! You can't help but laugh at that video - a stone classic of wrongness.
|
gillespie just looks so ridiculous. i almost couldn't believe it and then i remembered who it was and thought "yeah, that's about right."
