what a coincidence, my sister and nephew live in Nob Hill, its alright. Terrible place to try to find something to eat, i had to walk 3 miles to find a joint to get a bite to eat! the neighborhood as the feel of a stereotypical Portland suburb..

harrison on the other hand, is across the river on the other side of town, in the mind-boggling maze which is downtown.. good luck there, I couldn't fathom living in such a remarkbly confusing street lay-out.. its like the city planner spilled his coffee on the map, crumpled it up, threw it away, and then someone dug it out of the trash and built roads and one-ways along all the folds, stains and creases.. jesus it makes not a lik of sense!

3 miles, that's awful (sarcasm intended). I have to drive at least 20 miles from my house in Arm Pit, SC, to find a halfway decent restaurant.

i'm on the eastside in LA, i walk 3 minutes to one of six taco joints, and five to the chinese spot.. and if you feel like going into the danger zone there is a McDonalds on the corner..

I hope your in Nob Hill, its much nicer than downtown, but that is my bias as part of suburban sprawl of LA..

We mostly buy and prepare our own meals, ie, groceries. It's all much safer and healthier that way. We only go to restaurants to be "special." You know, drink pretentious bottles of wine and little sushi wraps and junk like that.

i fucking hate this thread. spiders give me the FUCKING CHILLS. thank god i live in a cold place where all the spiders are small.

it is easier and cheaper for me to buy i-man beans and rice from the taco joint than to dirty up the pans and spend the hour making em from scratch.. I mean I could get some canned beans and minute rice but that is nasty, and making beans and rice purely from scratch when I can get a shitload for 3 bucks is redundant..

though I do prefer to cook my meals as well, its just that I have been having to cook for myself only lately, my sister who I live with has had too busy of a schedule and I-man does not want to be the dish master.. I already have to do all the damned chores as it is :)

but my reference to Nob Hill is on vacation, and my sister there doesn't cook for shit, and here cabinats are often bare unless I come by and fill em up with good things like lentils and pita and rice and tortillas..
i have no choice when I am there but to wander around to find some food like a meskinwoch! (beggar, lit. 'poor devil')

I would not be so sure. One of the most awful spiders I've seen in my life was in a facory in northern Wales.
