My top 3 favorites ever look like: 1)Pavement 2)Dinosaur Jr and 3)Pixies.

Pixies were my favorite ever for a long time, but I'm going to have to say J. He's overall a more interesting guitarist (Though Black Francis is one of the best rhythm guitarists ever I think), and though it's a hard choice I think YLAOM is better than Doolittle.

I'll take santiago over mascis. mascis is so blues scale with extra noise whatever jack whitey guitar playing, even tho he was first, im not huuuuge on it. I like some early shit of theirs tho.

but frank black, better voice and tune style to my liking.

Also I dont get this whole "I cant listen to the pixies anymore" bullshit. Fuck you, pretensiois hoe bags haha! I cant listen on repeat repeat repeat...but their catalogue never gets old. I never get bored with pixies or sonic youth.

I agree completely. I can't believe some people find the Pixies or Dinosaur Jr boring.

While that's true, I often find the four Pixies records overall more interesting than most Sonic Youth records. SY records almost always go way too long; It's not a short attention span problem, it's the fact that they want all of them to go over an hour, or the songs themselves go too long. Like The Diamond Sea.... It's one of my favorite songs from them, and it's a great closing track, but why on Earth did they do 15 minutes of noise afterwards?

I got to shake j's hand once and he signed my YLAOM but i would never trade it for the time I saw the pixies. I saw them at leeds fest and had smoked about 10 spliffs just before they opened with into the white. One of the best gigs of my life.

I think my vote goes to J. Dinosaur's first 3 albums are great.

Frank Black is a muchh better songwriter.

I've never really listened to Dino Jr. But I love The Pixies. And I think Frank is great.

I meant J was before Jack white as far as bluesy noise shit goes, of course Ron was b4 him as far as launching that style.

yeah, i'm a leeeeettle legit scared of frank black, to be honest. somethin' volatile about him - one minute he's all, "tra la la, here comes your maaaa-aaa-aaan" and then he's fucking barking and, like, eating your eyeballs.

while j seems relatively chill. you could share a pizza with him, no worries about losing yr face.

I meant more because you can't share a pizza with frank black, because he'll eat the whole pizza, then your face, then order a nother pizza, then eat the rest of your body...then hit up white castle.

But god damn the song structure! Frank Black, Syd Barret, John Lennon, and maaaaaybe thurston on evol...no better songwriters.
