that's nothing, when Tony Conrad/Terry Jennings/John Cale and other freaks lived together apparently they were even worse.
|
Would have thought Conrad was an educated person (as in well-behaved).

=== actually Jenn, we frequented this place (pong sri) thru the years and had lots of sy and sy-related meals there - i'm not sure how it is these days. two top-rated Thai places frequented by various sy members and sy crew + family: Chelsea Thai - Chelsea Market - 75 9th ave. (at 15th st.) excellent thai food - mostly does take-out but a few tables and chairs in this small space Sterling Sound Mastering is in this complex but way up on the top floor + Sri Pra Phai - 64-13 39th Ave, Woodside - Queens http://www.sripraphairestaurant.com/ the ultimate. one of my favorite restaurants in nyc a time-investment to get to (7 train) but worth it. closed wednesdays. ss |
I was on Murray Street today. snapped the obligatory picture of the street sign

Maxwell's in Hoboken, hop on the path train on 9th St and 6th ave if you're in the village. (Steve's place) http://www.maxwellsnj.com/
ok this stuff is not strictly SY related, but: newspaper article from 1977 re bowery: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/...016_BOWERY.pdf Phoebe's is still there, down the block from where CB's used to be. Happy hour all appatizers and beers are half price. I like the quesadillas but buffalo wings are good too. I also recommend you go to Anthology Film Archives on corner of 2nd Ave and 2nd St, SY played there and they are on board of directors or artistic directors, I forget which. There's always something good playing there. also go on St Marks between 2nd and 3rd, you can see where The Dom used to be (Velvet Underground played there), also Mamoun's Falafel is on this block, $2.50 for a falafel. this is pretty cool website: Jeff and Tim Buckley related sites, but also general rock related NYC sites: http://www.timbuckleyandfriends.com/...Manhattan.html |

Wow, Steve! You not only have great taste in music, but in food, as well. This is the best Thai food I've had in NYC. My girlfriend's from Bangkok, and she introduced me to this place. She's friends with Sripraphai, who not only runs a great restaurant, but is a really wonderful person. |
If only it weren't in Queens!
It'll still be a Sonic eating weekend...going to the Cajun cafe Mark work/worked at. Oh, and thanks for the clarification, Steve. I'll give Pongsri a pass. For now. |

what is the ex cbgb like now? i heard it was a clothes shop or something.
|
Varvatos store now, some high end clothes. I just can't bring myself to go in there. There have been shows put on there, NY Dolls just played there one or two weeks ago.
|
Great Jones Cafe turned out quality, so I recommend that as a Sonic-related stop, at least while Mark is in the band.
