porkmarras 06.27.2006 09:36 AM

Doesn't sound like a funny joke.

No, I've only heard it in english. (It actually might been "baseball is wrong..." or something, oh well, same thing; lots of men, lots of balls)

Toilet & Bowels 06.27.2006 09:39 AM

well it doesn't sound like an english joke, where did you hear it?

Phlegmscope 06.27.2006 09:48 AM

uh just forget it. Obviously it doesn't make any sense.

Not an anorexic gay who is drowning. See where stereotyping gets you, Rob?

Gate = Gay man acting like a straight guy.
Stray = Straight man acting gay.

Metrosexual, unless I'm much mistaken, is the general ambiguity 'twain classical straight/ gay virtues, ergo, the pulling of each to a pseudo-polysexual middle ground.

Regarding the sports, I'm surprised that an actual gay bar is showing the football. I know plenty of bummers who are into the football, but generally gay bars aren't for the type of gays who want to blend in with general society - you go to a bar where you feel comfortable going 'oooh, get her' a lot. Um. I don't have a point. But there are some words here, please enjoy them.

I think it's a hell of a lot easier to stereotype and make fun of sports fans than it is for homosexuals.
GO TEAM SPORTS YEAH!

my artsy fartsy-ness was in eference to my lifelong exposure to the homosexualities of my homosexual friends, andthe homosexualities of my straight friends who feel a bit gay and the art world, as you know, we are all gay. ha ha!

long live vaginas!

I was probably over-reacting when I said the thread is homophobic bullshit. I've become pretty sensitive to a rise in gay bashing in my neck of the woods. I'm straight, but it really bothers me to sit through broke-back jokes and even more mean-spirited verbal attacks on homosexuals. I have one friend in particular who's prone to making such remarks while we're sitting in restaurants and bars--this is a big university town with a goodly proportion of homosexuals in its population, and more than a few of them are a lot tougher looking and more physically fit than either my friend or me. So not only am I embarassed by the ignorance of my friend's remarks, but I'm also afraid for my personal safety.

Anyway, suffice it to say gay-bashing really has no place in any context these days.

Something I worry about with my on-line ramblings. Round these parts, we indulge stereotypes. It's part of the humour - ergo, I'm comfortable that I'm not homophobic, so my use of pseudo-homophobic humour is more parodying the utterly ridiculous idea of being homophobic 'in today's society'. It's a tightrope though, and that side of the humour doesn't necessarily come through on t'interknob.

Spot on.

Toilet & Bowels 06.27.2006 11:16 AM

yeah but explaining jokes to people with no humour is rubbish

porkmarras 06.27.2006 11:19 AM

I got that. It's amazing how something simple to understand can get blown out of proportions because some dick hasn't got a working brain cell inside their skull.

Toilet & Bowels 06.27.2006 11:25 AM

while we're getting into dodgy territory.... what's the deal with queens anyway, and why do they think it's cool to be annoying?

porkmarras 06.27.2006 11:32 AM

Some queens are mentally damaged, that's it.They think that by being bitchy and vile to people they get the higher moral ground wich is misguided to say the least. This isn't a homophobic statement(i'm fucking gay for christ's sake),i'm just talking from experience.

Toilet & Bowels 06.27.2006 11:36 AM

how does that get you the higher moral ground?

if i was gay i'd probably find them more annoying.

It's the age old thing really, isn't it? Some people are cunts. Usually cunts are louder than non-cunts. Certain minorities are not terribly visible to so-called 'normal' society, apart from the loud cunts. One loud-mouthed gobshite fascist repressed socially retarded queen can ruin the good work of every decent, upstanding, advising-me-on-haircuts nice queen. See also: Romany travellers. Never met one that wasn't lovely. The horror stories that follow those people are appaling though.
