Sometimes I can't even be bothered. My dear friend is right, it's a symptom of the world and not the board. But when I come to a Sonic Youth board rather than spending my time on celebrity gossip or youtube commenting, it's simply because I have enough of that world. I want a break. I wanna read something from people who I'd assume wouldn't be that predictable and just spit out images of mass culture.

There is a very strange paradox about Sonic Youth fans doing that, but I'm not even gonna get into that.

It's the world, I gotta live in it already. So it's a great thing that you won't insult or belittle a woman when you are talking to her, but does it ever occur to you that despite that anyone can do things that ulltimately insult and belittle ALL of them? Or even worse, with the 'excuse' that that it is actually admiration? If that is what 'worship' is, worship is no good. It doesn't make up for the lack of respect. In fact it's just a disguise to carry on with it.

So, if you are a perfect gentlemen, wouldn't you be more worried in finding out what women truly feel? I'm not the first one to say something, am I? Yet many would disregard it, we're just being 'foolish'. What would a woman know about what a woman feels after all?????

It's not really my business. But the sad thing is, I think you're a great guy and I'm sure you can say interesting things but I've actually considered putting you on ignore just so I am not bombarded with sexist images in any given random thread on Sonic Youth. I'd really appreciate it if you can keep that within the 'women photos' threads you already have there, I wouldn't even read them.

And then the insults will come. Because a woman being serious is not sexy. It's all worthless but... you know, I'm sure many other people on the board might feel the same way but not bother saying it (specially women). Thought that maybe you'd like to know.

This is one of the few corners of the intermetanetwebs that actuaslly holds my interest, because I LOVE sonic youth and because the people that love sonic youth are all in their own great way very interesting people. they are not the typical one dimensional goddamn sheep that populate the world, or seem to.

I totally disagree. All women deserve respect. Just because you've chosen a job or lifestyle that some people feel is unsavory doesn't mean you don't demand respect.

I had a stripper friend that told me this story. She decided to stop stripping and went to sign up for food stamps or some other public assistance. I don't remember the particulars but THAT experience made her feel degraded and humiliated--as stripping never did.
