An old Dead Kennedy's song, Nazi punks Fuck off! has a line that goes "trash a bank if you got real balls". So to Julian Assange and wikileaks I simply say "leak secrets from Russia and China, if you got real balls".

russia suggested he be awarded the nobel peace prize.

so basically the mafia suggested he be awarded the nobel peace prize.

considering the hundreds of thousands of people the US has killed in the last decade I'm pretty sure your comment is somewhat disingenuous...

again though, what upsets me most about all this is that the biggest waves are over the diplomatic faux paus and gossip, whereas the hard evidence of fucking WAR CRIMES has been merely glossed over.. what the fuck is wrong with people, I sincerely do not understand or empathize with it.

It would have sustained itself longer had it remained underground, true. However, it's hard to make any sort of real impact when the majority of people who are aware of the information you're trying to get out already agree with ya anyways.

no no you misunderstand me. I mean logistically stay underground, why have gone so public, I mean paypal? Visa? Come off it, that shit is hardly pirate nor underground. They could have easily gotten the exact same publicity without having to exposed themselves so much. They went TOO public about this, the internet is full of hackers who make plenty of strictly anonoymous waves, and honestly when it first came out I thought that is entirely what WikiLeaks was all about? What could it expect when it tried to play revolutionary using the mechanisms of the establishment? Pirates use dope money stay off the radar, even the CIA knows that ;)

Loud + clear, friend.

:)

From what I understand, all the recent attacks are from the wikileaks supports trying to show their support against those who didn't go along with helping wikileaks. It's not the people behind wikileaks, that i know of, requesting or encouraging these acts.

I think you misunderstood. Wikileaks is not pirate or hacking, it is just a website that posts information sent to them, nothing illegal about it, nothing newspapers cannot do - in theory.

They wouldn't have gotten the same publicity and impact, because the real significance is not in the documents themselves (tho scary, nothing that people did not know or imagine) but what they're actually doing to this one person: ignoring laws, calling for execution, unfair accusations and procedures. That is saying something significant, that causes a reaction in people. It's not like they didn't know this was going to happen. It isn't about the documents it's about the fuss.

the people doing the hacking of paypal etc. are not affliated with wikileaks in anyway. they are a completely separate group of hackers.

suchfriends' point about wikileaks staying "underground" doesn't make any kind of sense. they need donations to keep going, what is the point of leaking things if noone sees them? the whole point is visibility. there's no way to be "underground" and some how avoid the apparatus of the state when you leak its secrets, because if you are underground enough it will just be able to arrest you and noone will find out.

if you think about what paypal, visa and the banks have been doing is somehow way more criminal than the hacking.

they're aiming for 1 million signatures, this could be really helpful so please sign:
