Do you mean the "On tour with the Neubauten" DVD ?
|
No, from what I've heard that's a bit of a waste of time and money. There's one coming soon called "Palast Der Republik", which is a live show from two years ago. See here: www.neubauten.org/en-dvd-announce.html

wow
Havenīt noticed that before I was thinking about getting the "On tour with neubauten" dvd but 28 Euros is just to much for me and i also heard itīs not really worth the money. Bought the "1/2 Mensch" DVD some time ago - now that is what i call worth the money |

This is just illogical to me. Of course they should mess with the formula. I hate bands that stick with the same formula (e.g. Oasis). I think thats why I like early SY cos u had SY EP, Sister, Evol, Whitey, DDN and all of them sounded VERY different. I recognise that the newer albums arent all the same, but they arent all that different either. And I didnt want to get into this and turn this thread into a referendum on Kid A, but that album is DEFINITELY innovative. I remember the week it was coming out, every mainstream newspaper and mag was gearing up to make radiohead the next U2. Then the album came out and there was no chance of that. One of the most innovative records in modern times. I still listen to it. |

a "suprising record" is different from an "innovative record". but as i said, i love kid-a too.

ha ha, this thread has a double discussion in it. maybe we should start a(another?) kid-a-related one...
|
No, not a double discussion. There are three conversations going on here! I thought it would be a good idea to take my and A Thousand Thread's conversation about Einstuerzende Neubauten to the pm section though. And a jolly old chat we're having too!
|
Right,i forgot to mention your "personal" discussion ;) .
Ok, now i'll stop hijacking this thread at least till i'll have something interesting to add....apologies to the thread starter. |
This forum is a dump these days.No interesting debate, nothing. How very sad.

Start a thread then, you sonoffabitch. Kid A wasnt castigated by the press that much because if they would have done that they would have looked 'passed it', uncool, not able to 'understand' or 'get' the album, etc. There were a lot of people that didnt 'get it' that pretended to. To reiterate: if SY come out with another guitar album Im gonna stop listening to their new stuff altogether. |
I'm sure that will be duly noted by the band. Who will go on to record another guitar album anyway.

Yeah, thats right, im thom Yorke. I spend my time posting on SY message boards with whinny 14 year olds that DONT APPRECIATE NAS AND WANNA LISTEN TO THE SAME SY ALBUM 50 TIMES, WITH DIFFERENT COVERS AND CD SLIPS. FUCKING NUMBNUTS! |

Exactly.I'm rather outraged at being thought of as a 14 year old because i'm 12 and happy with it.

I wonder why sonicl never bashed my english grammar...i fear his rage! Now i pay attention to commas, caps and stuff. You made me a better man. For real!
|
Sonic Youth hasn't put out the same record ever. They've been consistently getting shittier. I don't think you understand that Sonic Youth is a guitar noise rock band. Piss off, drunk.
|
Whatever
I'm gonna get my ass kicked for this one, but after having heard some of the SYR stuff I think that the real "problem" is that it's allowed them to polarize themselves... Okay, think of it like this, artists often engage in solo projects becuz they want to express themselves in ways that wouldn't suit their "main" band...with the SYR series, SY basically have become their own side project, putting out noisy, experimental discs for the SYRs and keeping more mainstream-friendly music for their major label releases... I'll post more later becuz I'm out of break time.. |
