You never know...

Yup, like the font too, nicely restrained. The tone & idea of the pic is good but i don't think it's quite right yet.

The name had me expecting a real 80s cut & paste job, I like the way this one totally goes the other way. Nice contrast.

I don't like it

rocky 03.22.2006 03:22 PM

i am vaguely reminded of the cover to daydream nation.
there is a lot of thick ambient space, like the former?

xpressway2yrskull 03.22.2006 03:34 PM

I think it looks great! very stylish indeed but I still perfer DDN as it seems to fit perfectly.

SonikJesus 03.22.2006 10:51 PM

To clear up the blink 182 thing, Thurston said they were going to call the album Dude Ranch Nurse but then they found out 182 had an album called dude ranch and on top of that they had a nurse that looked sleazy on a cover so they didn't want to get involved in that.

greenlight 03.23.2006 07:15 AM

....
is it official?
like it more in original.

cuetzpalin 03.23.2006 12:15 PM

yeah, agree, it reminds me David Lynch to me too---cool

Chichicastenango 03.23.2006 12:45 PM

mmmm
need to go to the toilet

twistal 03.23.2006 12:52 PM

I don't like it, even if it isn't real.

Inhuman 03.23.2006 12:57 PM

Me neither. At first glance it looked like a toilet, and once I realized what it was, I still didn't like it. I like the fact that it's a similar style to the DDN album art (like Rocky said), but the image itself isn't too appealing

maggot brain 03.23.2006 01:06 PM

hah

and hmm i like the photo on the cover, but it is pretty boring.

the evol cover was way the best

Soundtrax 03.23.2006 01:57 PM

well, i dont think we should judge the album cover badly, instead we should judge how the album cover fits the music on CD

Hahaha... So what's the message? Don't judge a Cover by its Cover? Judge a Cover by its Book. Huh?

aaronalive 03.23.2006 08:40 PM

I'm not really feeling that cover art..I guess we'll wait and see if its the real deal or not.

qprogeny79 03.23.2006 10:43 PM

so let's look at this from an angle that seems ignored.

if this is true, this is the proposed cover art for an album named RATHER RIPPED, which sounds eerily like a nightmarish installment from the backlog of richard simmons vhs tapes. then we get an eye in the mirror of a compact, which itself deceptively resembles a commode, for cover art. this, THIS 18 years after the album with the "high art" cover by gerhard richter and the lofty title "daydream nation."

with due respect, sonic youth have gone completely senile.

oh, someone is again trying to say i am stupid. :o i just think that now you can say the cover sucks, but when you hear the music you will be able to make a connection, and you will also like the cover ;)

got it?

IntoTheGroovey 03.24.2006 04:41 AM

It's not bad.

Na, dude, wasn't trying to rip into you for real... I just thought it was a little funny that you were in fact twisting a well-known idiomatic expression in on itself... I too love feeling the interaction between album art and album music and having them play off of each other. Certain records'll always make me see the colors on the outside cover... The music on Ritual De Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction will always be that nice read color mixed w/ plaster white... Never Mind the Bollocks will always sound Day-Glo... etcetera...

I just can't think of any records with covers I've hated that I've changed my mind on because of the music inside. There probably is one somewhere, though.

Anyway, I hope if this is the cover, the music on the inside sounds like it looks, cause I definately like it and its giving off a very warm, intimate vibe.
