Wow. Hayden, I'm not one to talk shit on age but honestly you need your musical pallette to develop before you can make a statement like EJSTN is shit. That albume really does grown on you but CIS is probably one of the most consistently entertaining record. Seeing those songs live brings something up in me. I'm one of those SY guys who says he likes every record and I really do. I don't think they've made a bad record. But that is just my opinion. It's unecessary to bicker about such things. You should sight examples, come on Hayden yr still in high school haven't they taught you how to formulate an essay? You're both silly and I think bickering like this is what is bullshit about this board. But quite entertaining at the same time.
No hard feelings. Just fun and boredom. chill s |

I don't think I get it. Bickering is fun when it is one in the morning and you don't want to go to sleep. |
I'd like another Bad Moon Rising.

I can dig that. I just thought you too were getting unnecessarily hostile to each other

i'm 24, i got into hair metal way after it had passed. wow, thanks!! people seem to like my harsher stuff, it's the first time someone compliments on GHYYYYYYYYYHG. |
from the live stuff i've heard this album does have more truly musical interplay (the most since experimental from what i can tell) coupled with some great big rock noise bridges & outros...& they sound rather fresh as opposed to ripped...the structures r ripped but refined & stripped (again like experimental only more lush with a songwriting direction more akin to what they've been doing more recently)
& yeah, although I grew to love the albums with O'Rourke, I'm glad Jim is gone too. I have a feeling that when I (& these other people) listen to the whole Rather Ripped album we're gonna be blown away. |

That explains a lot about your suck-ass opinions. Quote:
You seen it, eh? For a grammar nazi you might need to bone up a bit yourself. |

I'm getting closer and closer to making your computer explode. Quote:
I'm not a nazi. I'm a communist. Get it right, you fucktard. |

Ooo...I just came across this goodie. If you don't like Sonic Youth, and you abhor the new album, why keep posting here? Go somewhere that you'll be appreciated. Perhaps Teen Chat on AIM? |

What an intelligent comeback! I'd be suprised if you even knew what communism is. |

Because Sonic Youth is still one of my favorite bands but whatever. My care-cup is empty. SEE? -------> \_/ <---------- EMPTY |

You have nothing to offer as far as intelligent, insightful, or even entertaining posts. You're a stuck up 15 year old, brave on the internet-but probably bully fodder, son to a fast-food inheritance, and you think you're some sort of god. For fuck's sake, get a life. |

I enjoy how people can argue with a "stuck-up 15 year old, brave on the internet-but probably bully fodder, son to a fast-food inheritance" and think that they are making themselves look better. Go ahead and point out my trashy-ass background. I could give a shit less. At least I have an excuse for sitting on the internet goofing around. Why would a twenty-something yuppie come on these forums to argue with me if he has something better to do? I BEG FOR AN ANSWER. |
Um, because it's Saturday? And nothing else is going on until 11 or so (see...we don't have that thing anymore that you call bedtime..)

I haven't lived at home in months. I don't have a 'bedtime' either. |

haha |
dude, I can't believe I reasd this whole thread. I feel almost as dumb as they arguing.
almost. |
I don't.
|
is it just me or does it seem like everyone has heard the album?
|
.......i diDnt read the wHole thing but, im with you guys .. the NEW Sonic youth is the best .... the old stuff is awesome ......AND THE FUTURE IS UNTOLD - BUT LOOKS TOWARD THE SKY
...the whole thing is just progression ..... but what i dont get is why the hell some one would come to this forum if they dont like NEW sonic youth... cuz that means they just actually like the memoris of sonic youth's past .. not sonic youth in the present tense ..... BUT MORE IMPROTANTLY WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU COME TO A BANDS FORUM AND THEN DISS THEM THAT JUST PLAIN RETARDED ECSPEACIALLY WHEN IT IS MADE KNOWN THAT THEY VISIT AND READ THE POSTS.. ![]() |
Or is the best song off of Rather Ripped
|
I find sonic youth have done way more effective minimalistic songs than "or" and "Do you bel..... rapture". It feels like there's something missing to them. I like the Destroyed Room way more than Rather Ripped to be honest. Fire Engine Dream is where it's at!
|
on rather ripped 'or' didn't really catch me.. but when they played it in brussels i got goosebumps right away...

we're gonna go to d.c. and hang out . . . . .. . . . . . go watch girrrrrrrrlllllllllllllllllllllllsssss . . . . . . . . . rock. . . . yeah this song was fuckin great live . . . lee knockin the wood n all . . . but i still prefer pink steam from the album. |
Quote:
Same, pink steam was the most satisfying song for me. But Reena and Incinerate bring back good summertime memories |
I could go with OR being longer. I can imagine Kim and Thurston having discussions about he and Coco going to DC to hear Kim and her band playing, and it made be think that they may read the discussion board (which comes first - the music or the words). I thought the song was pretty much a lot about the mundane stuff we take for granted (as Seinfeld was a "show about nothing"), and it was interesting to get a glimpse into their world.
|
Or is too boring for it to be 10 minutes long. If it were, I would have just thrown Rather Ripped in the garbage.
