"David’s films and photos were always in praise of the moment, not unlike the physical presences of Kurt Cobain or Yamatsuka Eye on the microphone, or Pat Smear and Bill Bartell at a dinner party, or Sofia Coppola emulating Joan Crawford, or even David’s fascination with clown masks designed for mirth but eliciting horror in their absurd take on possibly expressing the perverse id we all are shocked by." — Thurston Moore on Dave Markey in his foreword for 'Scenes From Inside'. |

Looks like Kim is recording a new album with producer Justin Raisen

Lee confirms in this interview that the last Brooklyn show will be released on vinyl. He didn’t give a date tho. https://youtu.be/FeD42Z_uL6g |

On occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Staubgold label proudly presents Velvet Serenade. Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and French maverick Pascal Comelade relive The Velvet Underground - a non-nostalgic reinvention of a musical legacy that takes an influential past into the future. Local drummer Ramon Prats joined in easily and the three constructed what Ignacio Julià had asked for, not a tribute concert made of more or less faithful covers, but a new thing. |

interesting list of publications by this author |
My copies of the new live record came in the other day and I've listened to the CDs several times. I'm enjoying this new mix compared to the other version that was up on Bandcamp. Guitars are in your face, kinda trashy but nothing distracting. If I was on the Steve Hoffman forums, I'd say its very 'revealing.'

https://oneohtrixpointnever.bandcamp.com/album/again |
the newest episode of the sunburned podcast has Thurston talking about a 3-hr recording of sunburned and sonic youth. john from sunburned also mentions a gig where thurston, lee, and michael morley joined the group. i think steve may have been playing drums as well.

You know, I was sure there were a couple of posts about this - in fact I'm positive we had a thread called "SY on Bandcamp" and now that's gone! ![]() Anyway, the remix is bitchen and the rest of the EP should be given the same treatment. Buy it! |
Yeah, I spent an age looking for the SY on BC thread, and also came to the conclusion I was losing my marbles.
Maybe it's been removed in an effort to liberate us all from male white corporate oppression. Or something like that. |
hey yes, I posted about that some time ago already on the release date, and before when it was announced
