Black Tele: Standard
Blue Tele: Ostrich Les Paul Copy: ACCGG#C |
the guitar that i play most often is currently in d flat ostrich tuning
i think the others are mostly in standard though. |
D ostrich tuning, then stretched all of the strings so they range from C to D.
|
jazzmaster - standard
strat copy - GGDD and the other two strings are something else which i cant remember right now. |
Question: Anyone know a good tuning for acoustic guitar that will mostly be played with a slide? I guess that limits me to open tunings, that's fine, I'm just looking for a sound that's real rednecky.

Open C# tuning should suffice. C# G# C# F G# C# I have a guitar tuned to into that and it sounds mighty bluesy. |
Excellentttt.

So it's been three years. What new tunings has everybody come up with?
I've played around with: EBDABE or EBDABD GAEABE GBDABB You can get some really cool stuff in those ones. ~Jeremy~ |
Any tuning that resembles a dirty old town in Yemen is fine with me: Dadabe

My Strat is almost always in standard.
VERY seldom drop d even less seldom random tunings I make up when I wanted to get weirdo noise in yr face trash. I'm one of those that think standard is a pretty unique tuning these days. Non-standard is pretty standard these days, least round these parts when most are trying to avoid it. |
Yeah open tunings are too often used out of songwriting laziness (as with a lot of them by simply placing your fingers randomly you can end up with some really nice sounding chords, but that's not necessarily enough to make great songs from start to finish).

i find that the randomly playing notes works best with standard tuning.
i usually play in standard or open G or C |
I rarely pick up my guitar, but whenever I do it's in drop D (unless I decide to just fuck around with it briefly)

This. Playing with a Floyd style bridge is a pain in the ass to tune so I hardly even change the strings. The acoustic is in some weird open D hybrid; DADGAC I think. |
