Ew. They're like the most boring parts of every alt. rock band combined. Good riddance.

Nobody mention Metrotone or Avrocar or I'll neg-rep them! I still really like that song by Metrotone called ''Kiss Me Awake'' especially.

Aw man, I love Alice.

Soundgarden is a tough call. Lame for the most part, but a few good songs. I wouldn't mind their extinction, but Black Hole Sun can stay.

sarramkrop 07.15.2008 02:06 PM

Orange fucking Juice

radarmaker 07.15.2008 02:09 PM

I'd say Whipping Boy if it wasn't for the fact that they were really fucking good. Or at least the 2 singles & b-sides I've got are.

sarramkrop 07.15.2008 02:12 PM

The Olivia Tremor Control and Neutral Milk Hotel. Never liked either and I'd often end up with double copies of Neutral Milk Hotel albums, somehow.

Actually, The Olivia Tremor Control had a half decent song or two. Never been too fond of The Apples in Stereo either. More of a fan of Adventures In Stereo.

sarramkrop 07.15.2008 02:16 PM

Grant Lee fucking Buffalo

The grand total of a good tune and that's about it.

atsonicpark 07.15.2008 02:17 PM

haha no one's forgotten neutral milk or apples in stereo. for some reason.

Glice 07.15.2008 02:18 PM

E-male. Orange Orange. 5ive (arguably). Mark Morrison (except that one song, obviously). Olive.

radarmaker 07.15.2008 02:20 PM

Has the world forgotten Embrace yet? (the shit balladeers, not Ian MacKaye's band). I do hope so.

sarramkrop 07.15.2008 02:20 PM

I was shocked and disturbed to find out that some revere them on this very forum. It's offensive to a person of such good taste like me.

everyone forgot envy :(

batreleaser 07.15.2008 02:24 PM

The recordings are generally of a better (for which read: less polished) quality than those on the album. I'm pretty sure the Kills did a cover of the search for cherry red in a Peel session sometime in the early 90s. Stuart Lupton went on to form someone else, because I've seen his name since JFE split, I'm sure.

that's the one i had.

On the basis of this thread, I'm not sure if Britain is better at making forgettable bands or if Americans tend not to notice that some bands should be forgotten. Now, Australia, there's a country that's good at making forgettable bands. Gutterville splendour six, anyone?

Glice 07.15.2008 02:28 PM

Monkey Steals the drum. One very amazing song, then fuck all.

MellySingsDoom 07.15.2008 02:30 PM

The Wonder Stuff. Arse-gravy of the lowest order, plus they did that stupid fucking single with Vic Reeves.

sarramkrop 07.15.2008 02:32 PM

Did you use to buy all those shifty disco singles? I had shitloads of them at one point. Some good stuff on there and loads of forgettable bands. Paperlung were a hit, god knows where they are now.

Look, like that! ^

America refuses to forget shit bands.

batreleaser 07.15.2008 02:47 PM

silverchair

that band was fucking huge worldwide, and actually had a decent song or two, but it seemed like everyone in the world quickly realized they were a 19th rate nirvana for anorexic teenagers.

Florya 07.15.2008 02:48 PM

Ned's Atomic Dustbin
New Fast Automatic Daffodils
Pop Will Eat Itself
Flowered Up
The Christians

MellySingsDoom 07.15.2008 02:48 PM

How could I forget Bush?

I wish we could all forget Nickelback.

One of my favourite forgotten records was on that label, a double CD single with some indie tosh (definitely eligible for this thread, except I've forgotten their name entirely) and Nought's Red Rag EP, which would probably be considered seminal if you're the kind of idiot who thinks Math Rock isn't a rubbish idea.

Glice 07.15.2008 02:54 PM

Ball Boy, for those of you who were listening to Peel at the time, haven't aged terrifically well.

Oh, who was it that did that Kebab or Shag record?

atsonicpark 07.15.2008 04:01 PM

ah, god fodder rules.

well that whole scene is forgotten and for good reason.

i actually think they are one of the worst that came out of that scene. overrated garbage that sounded like a million better bands that came before them.

i will say i had a fucking great time at shows (mostly with friends and not the music) when i was into that stuff. to my youth!

atsonicpark 07.15.2008 05:13 PM

I don't have the issue. You can probably go on their webpage and see the feature list. The article is called "twin freaks in columbus", and it's an article on scissor shock and robe. and has a couple pictures of me.

Derek 07.15.2008 05:33 PM

I would but it's in Italian and confusing.

radarmaker 07.15.2008 06:11 PM

Aw, come on, Ball Boy is/are/was/were great in a U-rated Arab Strap kinda way :)
