mine's still not here  buy early get late.
|
Mailman pinched it :(
|
:( :(
|
Why does Malkmus think it's cool to purposely sing off-key on almost every track on this album?

you might be right :( :( :( |
I prefer Terror Twilight over any other Pavement record

bc he's an island of such great complexity. really dissapointed with the xtra disc. this may be my last of these remastered things for me. This one was nearly impossbile to get through and i'm a diehard fan. The days of Sue Me Jack type quality are long over. |

i'm still waiting for this, what date is the live show from?

There's no info on the record sleeve except that it's 1997, in Europe. I think I read somewhere that it's a compilation. Bad luck about not getting it yet, maybe mine was flukily sent early or something? I guess if they sent out most copies on the release date, you wouldn't really expect it to reach here for at least a week, so there's prob not cause for panic yet! |
i got an email now explaining why it's late:
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, your orders will be delayed be about a week. The Live LPs sent to us from Matador are too large to ship without damage occurring during transit, and we will have to special order supplies. We appreciate your business, understanding and patience. You will receive an e-mail notification from me once your special order has shipped. |
If you don't care to have all the bsides, alternate versions, and unreleased pieces then this certainly is not for you; this kind of compendium is not for the newbie listener, but is a tremendous package to me. While most of the songs I've heard in one form or another, the quality is a great improvement from the old mixes and bootlegs. I haven't listened through the live Lp yet.
However, no mix has been able to match what the lads sounded like live - the closest might be some DAT soundboards from the period where the taper didn't have any bass rolloff. |

Sue Me Jack may be the worst pavement song ever. |

interviews referencing their pot use are always hilarious. Where are you getting this BTC info? I remember one info for BTC where malkmus said (regarding his melodies) that 'after enough bong hits, they come' |
Yeah it's not that great.

Are you kidding me? "My silouette can't be touched"..that's one of the best Pavement tunes. |
Never mind the lyrics, just an average song.

Awesome tune, but each to their own. How does everyone feel about the extra disc's worth of material? How bout the extra live thing? Didn't place an order for it.. |

buy early, get late. as I always say. |
looks like i should get this next year now :(
|
Still not there, stu? Sue the mailman!
|
i had another email on friday saying it had just been posted, the delay was due to the LP being too big to post with the cd??? so they had to be posted seperately.
i joined the stephenmalkmus.com board and it looks like a lot of people are still waiting for this. good one Matador :fuckyou: |
:/ at least they make up for it by being a kick-ass label.
|
the cd finally arrived today but on its own without the lp/poster.
|
What the jesus fuck? Talk to matador now!
|
lp and poster arrived today.
|
Whew. Glad that's all sorted man. What's the poster of?
|
Belle and Sebastian - The BBC sessions
|
Hahahahahahahahhahaahaha :d
|
it has Brighten the corners on the other side
|
So, guys, what do think about this reissue and the extra super kick-ass bonus LP ?
I've listened the reissue just once, and I find it good. But not as good as the previous ones. I think it's due to the fact that I don't like Brighten the Corners as much as I love Slanted, Crooked Rain and Wowee. Furthermore I find it too brief, 24-25 songs per cd, compared to Wowee Zowee reissue (30-35 or something like that)... They should have put more live stuffs,... and I prefer not to talk about the Preston School of Industry song, it's a shame. At all events this album is better than any Radiohead albums. |
Agree ?
Disagree ? Don't care ? Shut the fuck up ? |
yeah i pretty much agree with you Heckler, this album is good but not as good as Slanted, Crooked or Wowee, it would've been nice to have more bonus tracks but if you include the live lp there is probably more tracks on BTC than Wowee Zowee.
the live lp is ok but nothing that special. |
The bonus tracks on Wowee aren't as good as the bonus tracks on BTC (yes, even though WZ has Kris Kraft, Easily Fooled, Painted Soldiers, Mussel Rock). I got the impression that BTC was more of a solid release as a deluxe than Wowee deluxe, even if I prefer the regular edition of Wowee over BTC.
Overall I prefer BTC to CRCR and Slanted, but as Deluxe editions I'd go with CRCR>Slanted>BTC. Sorry about all the acronyms. |
Thanks for your answers, dudes.
I see your point Zero, but I maintain that the absence of Preston.... makes this reissue unrealized, uncompleted. It could have been way better. |
Preston will be on TT deluxe, guaranteed. The idea of these deluxe re-issues is to cover all their output anyway, isn't it?
Also: fix your signature :D |
I hope so.
Also : Fixed (for the moment) |
This reissue is so good that it's depressing me. Pavement has long been the one band that I would force to re-unite if I were President.
|
These reissues from Matador sound really good, re-mastering wise. Unlike the hideously compressed nonsense that was spewed at us with the SY deluxe reissues. Too bad I prefer SY as a band.
Yay for Pavement fans anyway :) |
