i followed your links and found out that you are selling records with a cc license. interesting - but how does it work, i mean - buy AND cc-license? Does it mean, i buy one cd, and then i am allowed to share it, reissue it or whatever for free?

Probably the s/t or RR, but I still like 'em. I don't know. "Worst" and "Sonic Youth" don't usually appear in the same sentence for me.

I dnt totally agree. But I do agree. I think a lot of fans will get more into RR down the road. I've never really understood the hate it gets. It has some really great songs. Some good ones. A couple of meh ones. It's not like a beginning-to-end-shit fest. Plus, like I always have to throw in: "Reena" is one of the best songs of the 00's.

Anyway, I can't really think of a "worst album." If pressed, I'd probably say SYR6 is my least favorite. But there's a time & place for each of their releases where it will make me happy.

Rather Ripped is probably their weakest album to date, but that's a relative term.

I reckon Nurse is my least listened to, but it is by no means a bad album.

If we're really counting everything then I think the Whitey Album is also beyond horrible. Another idea that sounded good to them but came off poorly.

I personally just don't really enjoy it. Always makes me want to listen to something else from them.

I think their worst songs are Mary-Christ and Cinderella's Big Score.

Mary christ is one of my favorite.

I just find it unbelievably annoying, and when I think about, it gets stuck in my head and won't leave.

I just listened to Jet Set for the first time in ages (actually it's the first SY album in awhile), and I actually quite liked it. Well, except for Thurston's tracks, I find those to be as bad as I remembered them.

there are some moments, but way less then on every other record of the youth. my itunes says I am right, too.

i dont understand u guys. many of you seem to dislike ejs. i cant decide whether ejs, ddn, washing mashine, goo, sister, evol, atl, nycg is better. to me, nycgf is a little more "inventive" or something than the others, but ejs is the same league as sister, ddn and so on.

The songs sound like they were written in 10 minutes almost.

The fuck? You're honestly going to compare such works of excellence like Candle, Schizophrenia, Rain King, The Sprawl, Silver Rocket, Catholic Block, Cotton Crown, etc to such shits Tokyo Eye? Quest For The Cup? Skink? Sweet Shine, among the rest of the album?

Damn if that isn't the craziest thing I've heard all day.

There's nothing not to love about any of their records up to Murray Street, even if you take personal taste into account. Sonic Nurse has one great song (Golden Blue), and Rather Ripped brings back bad memories and a lot of sadness. Reene is a good song, but it's not enough.

thats possibly their best release ... not on face value but the whole deal and thinking around the record is fantastic..silver sessions should be reduxed, rereleased and rammed down everybodys throat under the threat of gunshot... fantastic record......

I don't think they're horrid albums they're just my least favourite albums.

As much as I LOVE the music, I think the PRODUCTION of Sister leaves something to be desired. It's thin. So is EVOL, for the most part, to me. I hope SY remasters these and gets the UMMMPHHHH I like put into these albums. Other than that, I can't say I don't like any of their releases as far as music. I even LOVE Rather Ripped for it's more poppy and simple aspect.

Yeah...Dirty is fucking Ace, you people! I don't know, maybe I'm older than most of you (47), but when Dirty came out in 92, it was fucking WORSHIPPED. And it deserved the worship.

I think EJST+NS is the most underappreciated SY album.

Damn, this is a tough question....the "worst" SY album? It will still be a "good" album in my books.....ok.....Goo never really did a whole lot for me.
