Where there is a large cluster of folks from different backgrounds, there is always going to be racism A sad, sad fact, yes...but a fact none the less.

The current situation is that there is no situation with Irish immigrants.

And I disagree about that cluster thing, there's more racism where I grew up in the country and everyone is white to where I work now in London which is a completely multicultural city and I never come across any kind of racism whatsoever.

And yet lefties were tripping over themselves to be the first to lamely play the race card over what Morrissey said, and if you read that sad excuse for a paper, The Guardian, you'd think racism in the UK was rife.

I don't think so.

I think the British immigration policy is archaic and wrong, but I am sure none of them have anything to do with being too black. I wouldn't feel like I would comment on that, given the status of the US immigration/visa policy.

But I was just wondering if you were including me in that, because I don't live in the UK.

Derek 09.10.2010 02:28 PM

Where are you living now knox?

ann ashtray 09.10.2010 03:08 PM

America is a big country made up of several different states, many of which are geographically very different from one another, thus, people move (migrate) to each individual one for very different reasons. Naturally, racism is going to exist...just in some parts of the country more than others.

It's an odd thing. You can have a town that is very racist, then another town literally 20 something miles away can exhibit little to no racism.

"yr irish immigrants"??? erm what?? as this was replied to an englishman id like to add that ireland is a separate country to england and not part of the united kingdom!

seems everytime i hit this place at the moment there is some absurd attack on the irish happening. i thought this place was a pretty intelligent place. this thread proves me wrong!

anyway i wonder did karl pilkington get in much trouble after his comments about the chinese and the country...probably not!

Derek 09.10.2010 04:57 PM

I know people from Ireland that are more intelligent and have better taste than the majority of this forum, paulybee included.

Remember when the US stopped allowing immigrants from Europe cuz they were too civilised and white?

Sao Paulo.

Oh, I thought that'd be slightly strange considering your dislike of the sun and all it's warm glory, but good luck with whatever you're doing there.

knox 09.10.2010 06:40 PM

It's not generally warm here Derek. It can get warm in the summer, but not as much as London, it's generally not really cold either (except during the peak of winter) so the weather is nice.

I was born here.

Sao Paulo has a higher population than London, and the average temp for Sao Paulo in the summer is much higher than London. So I don't know where you're getting your info from because it's clearly a load of bollocks.

knox 09.11.2010 10:52 AM

The average temperature yes, of course but it doesn't have heatwaves with peaks up to 40C like I've seen in London and other places in Europe. It certainly felt way hotter there. So I imagine you know how AVERAGE is calculated because you went to school. It's never too hot or too cold, mostly mild. It'll go from 5 in the winter to 30 in the summer, usually.

But since the city and the state are quite big, there are much colder and much hotter places, even within the city.

And I never said anything about the population, it's probably the most populated urban area in the world if you consider adjacent cities of greater Sao Paulo, with 20 million people.

Jeremy 09.11.2010 12:44 PM

But can anybody here correctly graph the geographical advantages that living in UK compose? How about the differences in current economies between Great Britain and the state of Indiana? If you are driving a car at 80 MPH from East Asia and the major interstates are closed for construction, what will be on Nick at Nite once you reach your destination in Liverpool?

Essay your answers and have it in by Monday.

~Jeremy~
