Damn right. The best Breton musical entity of the past 25 years are Les Prates. Les Pirates are an attempt to create a new generation of Breton folk singers, by taking children (aged roughly 10-15, mainly girls) and performing sea shanties.

They are one of the finest sea shanty bands I've seen (I've seen a lot) - excellent on record and truly wonderful live.

i think the only breton musical entity i'm familiar with is manau and i certainly wouldn't put them in a top 10 of any sorts. :D

I don't know them. Between us, though, that's two contemporary Breton bands. It's a start.

haha... believe it or not but that song was actually a pretty big hit in holland; it got quite a lot of airplay. very unfortunate for me since i really disliked it. thankfully it's the only song of theirs i've heard.

it doesn't surprise me that they were the first name you were thinking of. i mean it would be hard not to notice that they're from brittany!
