Trick and I are heading to the venue now. If you spot us, give a holler.
|

I too am stuck at work in Westchester until 5PM, hope to be at the venue by 6:30-7...as long I catch Wild Flag>SY all is good.
The anticipation is killing me!!! |
I wish the boys n gals of Sonic youth good luck with the gig and all people here to have a nice evening! Fuck I'm jealous!
|
They're still here drinking beer, hope they won't be late.
|
Shit! I finally rounded up some money and now ticketmaster isn't selling them. Anybody got an extra?
|
Bad Moon-heavy soundcheck!
|
Tickets are still available, this was posted on FB:
The Williamsburg Waterfront Sonic Youth with WILD FLAG and Kurt Vile and the Violators TONIGHT!! Doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 6:30. Tickets are still available and will be sold at the door |

yay! |
I get so excited for the "annual" SY Brooklyn summer gig! And a BIG plus: beautiful weather today.
|
Judging from Jenn's facebook updates, I think the suicide on my to-do list was just bumped up a few notches.

woow, unbelievable... |
What do the updates say?
|
I suppose I'm being melodramatic, but I've been working ridiculously long days and nights lately and even considered for a moment that I should buy a plane ticket w/ my excess $$ and go check this show out. I opted not to before I actually read the 'teaser' tweet, and now that Jenn's been posting tidbits from the soundcheck I am sincerely regretting my decision. Hopefully they're re-learning Bad Moon for some kind of west coast "Don't Look Back" festival, ha ha ha.
Anyway, I'll let somebody who's actually there chime in with the surprises. Definitely experiencing a feverish combination of jealousy and depression, though! |
i got an extra i'll be selling when i get there. look for Patty Orsini:)

Chris...i feel so similar to this.....well....i'm kinda freaked out |
Haha if I had any self-respect (and you hadn't quoted me :p) I'd delete those heat-of-the-moment reactions - my stress should have no bearing on people's enjoyment of this likely legendary show!
Now to look up the price of a trip to South America... |
updates basically say: brave men run + ghost bitch + inhuman soundcheked.
now, when I saw them a few years ago, sunday was played during soundcheck, but wasn't on the actual setlist, this time things seem more interesting...damn you, inexistent teletransport. |
Anyone already there writing from phone? Reports?
|
Ah, they just tweeted they are playing in twenty minutes. Wish I was there. Someone gives us a report/setlist etc. Have a sonic blast!
|
Right now, as I write this post...the best band in the world is playing live in concert, in action !!

Absolutely amazing. I thought I would never hear half of the songs they played. Gear updates to follow.

Saw you guys from afar, but couldn't get close enough to say hi! Sorry :( |
This setlist was surreal. One of the coolest things was a fan throwing a toy ukelele on stage and Lee playing it instead of his guitar for a good stretch of the song (It was Inhuman, I think).
Great meeting up with everyone! |

Yeah, this show was incredible and fantastic. I never thought I would hear half of these songs either! Oddly enough I had been listening to lot of early SY lately. So perfect, Still high on this show! |
Beautiful set-list. Highly possible that a recording will be posted to nyctaper.com at some point. acidjack was in attendance:
![]() Best @thesonicyouth setlist I have seen in last 2-3 years. Especially loved the early 90s stuff. Extended "Sugar Kane" alone was worth it. 1 hour ago via Twitter for iPad |

Thanks Kim.

This is one of the rare times quoting myself is almost too painful. |
This is the best setlist since The NYCG&F tour in my opinion.
OMFG double WOW !!! |

   Wow! |
First off have to say great meeting Inhuman and Dave Cromwell for the first time, and great to see Georgekrz, Super Creep, and Magic Wheel Memory again and great round of beers after
OK, I was the one updating Jenn's iPhone during the show, but it reflected her emotions as well, I lost my shit when they played Starfield Road, was just floored, Kill Yr Idols was one of the best of the night, I was worried during Ghost Bitch cause during soundcheck Lee nearly smacked himself in the face with his cymbals he was so into it, Inhuman, just wow, just floored, well technically couched and can barely see straight with my sunburned face but yeah, I think maybe it was dream and only now awake, but it actually happened |
Amazing setlist! Looking forward to see videos : )
|
Apart from Death Valley 69, the last time they played any other tracks from BMR, was 1995.
This according to the Concert Chronology. There needs to be an official boot of this. |
|
Panto and I almost choked each other during the Starfield Road intro. We were screaming lyrics and catching several holy ghosts.
I have seen Inhuman twice now. Shit. "Anything is possible through the power of love."--Thurston at the end. "Psychic hearts" felt like it was for us in the audience. Lee was doing some nice, unobtrusive licks there. Everyone I met, you rock the lobster. Sonic Youth, thank you for surprising me still after 58 shows. That was too good to be real life. |
The best part was when Thurston had to ask Mark for the chords for one of the songs.
