This super league concept is pure heresy.
All the long european cups' tradition goes to waste. |
Yeah, I feel sorry for the players and coaches of those teams. They have no part in it, it's all decided above their heads but they now have to deal with angry fans and questions about it during press conferences.
I keep visiting that page I linked above for updates, won't post all the updates here, but this one I liked a lot: Quote:
So far not one person has spoken out in favor of the ESL, and the high bosses of those clubs keep quiet too. Update: That last part is not exactly true. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has spoken, it's quoted on that page, on page 3 right now. He says the clubs are out of money. Well, the salary for the players have been insane for years. It's to be expected that the clubs would run out of money that way ..... |
The big clubs have always been running out of money.
Now and then a club gets relegated for that, but never a big name. Consider Man U and its owner. The club needs money? The owner lends the club money. So the club owes its owner money. Big. As there's interests. |
This shit is changing by the hour.
As it stands Chelsea have pulled out. Man City, Barca, and Atletico are going to. There's going to be a zoom meeting with all the presidents about it tonight. Doesn't matter because it's crumbling before their very eyes and no matter what they do it won't work. AND now Agnellil has resigned as president of Juventus. What a fucking ride. Let them all burn is what I say. |
Quote:
Fuck em. Their own fault they've been running their teams shitty and now the chickens will be coming home to roost. |
It's all crumbling down now.
Chelsea supporters were especially heavily protesting: "Furious supporters held placards and threw sticks of celery ahead of the clash with Brighton on Tuesday." Sticks of celery????? That's the most severe hooliganism I've ever read!! :D (here's an explanation) |
the Premier League’s Big Six are all OUT of the European Super League.
What a shitshow they made of themselves |
man city v chelsea for champs league final? wtf
glad i didnt watch this year! |
European Championship is starting tonight! Who's your favorite to win it this time? I'll be voting for Belgium as usual. But I hope there will be many surprises....

this continues to work -- eta: did anybody see italia? are the netherlands already in first place in group? i saw a fixture with them ready for the 27 in spite of having a match tomorrow. |
Italia played with sort of a B squad yesterday, because they already had enough points to go through to the next round anyway. But they still won it.
Today is Netherlands match, they also already have enough points, so might also play with a B squad. But as always I'm more interested in watching the Belgians. Who also may play with a B squad btw. |

Sorry about that. We "only" lost 1-0 to Brazil (and in Rio de Janeiro, mind you), but still - it's depressing to see, game after game, how we're returning to being the piece of shit we always were before Marcelo Bielsa came along and revolutionized everything. Gotta wait another hundred years, I guess... |
Alright, I need some goddamn MONEY. Online, you can place a bet on whether there'll be a dog loose on the pitch at some point, but forget that - let's just focus on the most basic: who will win the tournaments, period. Right now Bet365.com says:
Copa América Argentina 2.37 Brazil 1.57 Euro Italy 2.00 England 1.80 Let me know whatcha think and that's where my microscopic Covid relief coins go. Maybe. ;) |

copa américa: bolivia. wild card: venezuela euro: north macedonia. wild card: turkey ![]() |
No idea what this mook ^ said because he's on my ignore list, but I'm leaning towards Brazil and England. Argentina is too young a team for a final and Messi is a walking compendium of "almosts" with the albiceleste. England, meanwhile, has shown a level of badassery I'd never seen from them before - "We're the Premiership. Who the fuck are you? The Serie A? Nobody watches that ugly shite".
|
I hope all competing teams will watch this video:
How to win a penalty shootout? I will be cheering for referee, because he's Dutch :p :D |
M'kay, good thing I chickened out and didn't bet...
|
¡¡argentina campeón!!
& neymar's misery is my joy :D |

apropos of nothing, i was looking at some random news about spurs this morning and saw that they were failing at the hands of... nuno!?!?! what happened to wolfitos? i am so out of the loop haaahaaahaaa. o well. i truly no longer give a fuck about the tv multichannel mincemeat that carries football. go find another sucker, lol.
|
Just watched the Socceroos play out a pisspoor 0-2 loss to Japan, ending hopes of direct World Cup qualification. We've got a few playoff games to go through as an alternate - one against another Asian team, probably the UAE, and if we win that we'd have a South American team. But I guess we can probably farewell our Qatar hopes.
Outside chance our playoff game comes to be against Chile, which both excites and scares me in equal measure (for personal reasons). |
i tried watching champions league yesterday and it was a clusterfuck of obstacles. can't figure out what app/channel to get. i mean, amazon offers paramount something something as add-on, but then it only lets you watch replays (wtf). i'm not getting cable like a primitive. fuck sports tv.
-- hold on... i found a paramount+ app in my tv (not via amazon) that allows for a free trial. will test it today... curious about the simeone vs pep galácticos duel. |

we should swap countries for a month or so :D I will get to watch the NBA playoffs without having to wake up (or stay awake) until the early mornings, and you get to watch the football semi's and finals of all the Euro leagues |

wow i just found out that real madid won the champions league. only because i was cleaning up my twitter feed and the thing was offering me the choice to add the tag.
i blame the sliced and diced tv offerings for my apathy. they want to kill you with a thousand papercuts. fine then, no more paper. sorry kloppo :( |

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, United Arab Emirates. Ajdin Hrustic with a cannon of a right foot, was a mildly lucky deflection but we actually played well enough to win on our own steam this time. Peru coming up Monday night for most people, Tuesday morning for us here. I can taste it... |
