The problem Weezer would have - especially that other bands don't - is that there's very little artistic progression, so you can listen to their white album and spend the whole time thinking 'why aren't I listening to the blue album'? |

The problem Weezer has is that they know they suck and are just a residual fart ghost of what they were for a VERY brief time, but they’re for some reason 100% OK with that and they’ve leaned into it so much that they’ve convinced a decent chunk of their newer fanbase that it’s OK, which it is not. They are the least value-added band in the world at this point. If I were a risk analyst for music, I would recommend Weezer be terminated expeditiously and retroactively dating back to 1997. |
If you got the best song off every Weezer album since Green, you could have a pretty good collection - of course, the problem is that the entire top ten is just Blue and Pinkerton (in whatever mix you'd have - I'll go 3/7 or maybe 4/6).
As shit as the music is though, Patrick Wilson can still do some cool stuff. |
![]() real good, first album in a couple of decades or something. sounds a lot more like euphoria but perhaps even more knackered? stately minimalist pop that sounds empty but deceptively rich. |

There's also Way Down In The Rust Bucket (February 26). Dammit, doesn't this guy know I'm broke? Now I gotta rob another liquor store... |
![]() Black Dresses - Forever in Your Heart The Canadian electro-industrial noise pop duo surprise released this today, a comeback record after breaking up in 2020 (thanks TikTok - it shouldn't be as surprising as you'd thought, they literally live together). Opens with a few of the loudest, most powerful songs in their discography, really just lacerating away everything from the last year, and it moves later into being more structured and weirdly pop flavoured. Would recommend for anyone who likes HEALTH, probably the closest analogy I can think of. |

Nice. NICE. But too much stuff is piling up. Artists I like should coordinate their releases via Zoom or some shit in order not to annihilate my budget. 1-2 per month, tops. |
Looking forward to the new Cloud Nothings out tomorrow
