I'm halfway through season 4 now. God is it good. Probabl'y my favorite series so far. I'm not lookin gorward to 8 and 9 though. What's the best series in your opinion?

LifeDistortion 05.12.2006 04:43 PM

If I had to pick I'd say season 3 and 4 were the best season's of "The X-Files", within those seasons you had the classic episode "Home" which was insprised by "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and one of the most scariest episodes of the entire series. Season three has the halarious "Jose Chung's From Outer Space", and arguably the best season premire of the entire series.

On that outer space one at the begiining where it has the alien talking I though "Oh my god this is gonna be the shittest ep. ever" until I realised it was a parody ep. Good episode overall. I really enjoyed Ice which is just a rip off of the thing.

i hate most tv but i really liked buffy-- the most absurd mix of comedy & melodrama.

is it a "classic"? well it's been dead now & living through reruns. i have the feeling people are going to be watching it for ages.

the first 3 seasons of the west wing were fucking spectacular. best dialogue ever. but then aaron sorkin was busted with crack & the show was taken over by hacks. behold the power of cracksmoking when done by the right people!

freaks & geeks - ive only seen on dvd.

and northern exposure. i've been hot for o'connell since i ever laid eyes on her. :D

is all this "classic"? how far back does one have to go? 50's tv shows depress me. 60's-- maybe some cult stuff?

oh and monty python of course. how could i have forgotten.

ah! and red dwarf. british tv is far superior to american in most cases, in spite of the general poverty of its means. for example, compare the glory of i claudius (no crowds, no effects, not even a proper circus) with roman-themed hack american productions.

on that note, i never watched the american version of "the office", because i was convinced it would only piss off & frustrate me.

and that is that is that is that.

Six Feet Under is one of my favorites too.

krastian 05.12.2006 05:25 PM

I always identified whether or not I had seen an episode of Six Feet Under by the weird deaths at the beginning. One of my favorites was when that old guy with diabetes ate those canned peaches and died. He looked so happy to be eating them. God bless that guy.

h8kurdt 05.12.2006 05:26 PM

Yeah that's a good one. The one with blow up dolls is a brilliant one.

krastian 05.12.2006 05:31 PM

Yeah there are quite a few bizarre sexual ones. Like the one where the guy asphyxiates himself while he's jerking off to porn during his lunch break.

LifeDistortion 05.12.2006 05:31 PM

The "Six Feet Under" deaths that comes to mind for me are the one where a piece of space junk crashes on top of a woman, and the one where the woman got ran over by a car while chasing after blow-up dolls she thought were angels from Heaven.

It's weird cause I never watched much TV, but I like lots of the classic shows. But I never liked sitcoms or other corny shows.

Hrmm favorite ones

Voltron
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Ren & Stimpy
Star Trek
Saturday Night Live
Simpsons

I'm also kind of hoping Aqua Teen Hungerforce will go down as a good classic show. The comedy style is so hilarious, it's like seinfeld meets monty python. Although I'm not quick to buy the DVD's, because like 2 years ago, adult swim stopped showing the new episodes or the reruns for like 10 months, in an effort to sell the DVD's. And I sat back and laughed as everyone fell for the marketing scheme

Tiswas was the greatest kids TV ever.
Taxi was great, especially Latka and Reverend Jim
Does anyone else remember 'Chico and the Man' ? I thought that was pretty cool.
Also 'Michael Bentine's Potty Time'. I used to run home from school to make sure I didn't miss it.

Being several centuries older than most of you guys has it's benefits.

I used to love watching 'Timeslip' and 'The Tomorrow People' and 'proper' Dr Who. Wurzel Gummidge, Catweazle and Larry the Lamb were also regulars.

EyeballGrowth 05.13.2006 09:56 PM

now that I think of it, Gumby was a freaking CRAZY show.

I like quantum leap a lot. The english Office is very funny and for american cartoons i would say the original dexter's lab, powerpuff girls, and johnny bravo. Loved those as kid and still do to this day.

thewall91 05.14.2006 07:54 PM

four pages and no three's company? granted, some seasons were better than others, but nothing beats the chrissy/furley seasons. the best episode ever was the one where jack takes that weird rocket drink when he's at some social function and does this crazy dance and ends up with a plant on his head. RIP john ritter and don knotts. i cried when both of them died.

six feet under is def. the best show of its time. i started season one on demand last summer so i think i'm on the end of season four. i've already read how it ends, unfortunately, but i'm still so into it and can't wait each month for the new ondemand season.

"The Wonder Years" Kevin & Winnie 4 ever <3

Love that show, wish it was still showing in re-runs. They haven't even released all the seasons on DVD yet. I think just the first two seasons out of seven. That was a great show.
