Never understood Explosions in the Sky

Tortoise, Mogwai, GYBE, Sigur Ros, Talk Talk, Bark Psychosis, Slint and Stereolab are the groups I like most. Spiderland is definitely my favourite album released by any of those bands, but Tortoise have the best discography

one of the most underrated and genuinely brilliant bands ever.

The term is too broad. I can't give a solid answer. I could make arguments for Slint, Tortoise, ASMZ, Gastr del sol, obviously Godspeed, and numerous others.

I suppose Slint and GY!BE are kind of the definitive po-ro bands, but I listen to Mogwai and tortoise more frequently at this point.

Oh, and does Broken Social Scene count? What about Spiritualized? See, its tricky. So fuck it.
