Pavement, as my friend Sozavac tells me, put out their best songs on EP's and B sides. I used to disagree, but having aquired those b sides and EP's I am in full compliance.

I disagree on that one. I find a lot of their output on b-sides/ep's almost un-listenable at times. Sure they're b-sides, but damn, it seems like they threw anything on there. Gangsters, Give it a Day, Harness your Hopes, Sue Me Jack(rules), and the Echo cover is about all there was for me. |
I wanna catch one of their shows.

Pavement's b-sides > most of their album tracks
|
Pavement have some great b-sides, but I wouldn't say it's better than their album stuff. Some b-sides I just can't picture being on any of their records.
Westie Can Drum should have been on Brighten, though. Killer live song. ~Jeremy~ |
Just got two tickets for the Central Park show!
Waiting until September 21st of next year is going to be fuckin' TORCHA. |
OK, I'll go & see them but can this please be the last reunion for the forseeable future? Maybe a moratorium until, say, 2015? And can a whole lot more bands please split up? Thanks.

LET'S PREDICT THE NEXT REUNION!
I call Hüsker Dü. |
I don't ever see that happening... Grant and Bob just hate each other too much.
Of course, people also thought J, Lou, and Murph could never reunite Dinosaur Jr, let alone do new albums.... But Grant and Bob just can't stand each other, I think they're the one band who could never do it. None of them even show interest in it. ~Jeremy~ |
idk. With Bob doing all those Dü songs with No Age and Grant just getting active in music again...who knows?
|
I'm wondering when the Husker Du reissues/remasters come out. Bob's had the rights now for a couple years and we've heard nothing.

I could see Hüsker Dü happening
especially with all the Dü in that stupid movie Adventureland |

Pavement planning new album release November 5, 2009 Pavement guitarist Spiral Stairs has revealed that the band are planning to release a best of compilation featuring previously-unreleased radio sessions next year. The guitarist, real name Scott Kannberg, told NME.COM that the album would be likely to feature outtakes as well as the band's best-known songs, and be released around the same time of their reunion gigs next year. "There's talk of doing a best of, with some really cool outtakes on that," he explained. "The very first radio show that Pavement ever did has never been released. I don't think anyone's heard it, so we'll put that out there sometime." |
That headline had me excited for about five seconds. Then I actually read some of the article. Those outtakes might be interesting.
|
Pavement recorded way too much music.

Says the guy who worships Captain Beefheart and The Fall. ;)

I love Pavement, really. But this reunion thing just doesn't interest me. I hope they just do a tour. Seems kinda selfish but I just keep thinking they'll ruin themselves. They should have stayed broken up.
|
im not going to accept a Pavement reunion until im happy and in love
|
The crooked Rain outtake version of Grounded is the best bloody Pavement song ever
