often that's even cheaper than throwing them life-long in jail or sending them to court for every little misdeamour every other month.

Labour - Rot and die while you find some time to breathe and smile.
Tories- Just rot and die, and quickly too.

The only thing lifting my spirits today is the thought of the look on the face of every smug twat Tory I know if they somehow wake up tomorrow and discover that they haven't won after all. Please please please please please.

Pookie 05.06.2010 10:32 AM

Cameron is preparing everybody with his "Broken Britain" chant. After their slap on the wrist when caught lying about the violent crime statistics (they said violent crime has doubled under Labour; it has in fact halved) the Tories have been unable to perpetuate the lie and hence the meaningless phrase which plays on people's fear of crime (fear of people: see also immigration and people claiming benefits).

If you mean people who dismiss the conspiracy theories then count me in. And yes I have read a lot about it. I agree with David Aaronovitch:

"Suicide is very unsatisfactory and in that sense - the sense in which there is a narrative, a story that improves upon reality - conspiracism is not unlike religious belief. Lewis Wolpert speculated that our evolutionary development of tool-making may have required the habit of causality, which we necessarily extended to the question of why we existed. Hence the universality of religious belief. This principle could extend, too, to the need to construct better stories than reality apparently furnishes."

People waste too much time ignoring the real issues (perhaps they are too real and too complicated and too boring) and concentrate instead on a story which they find much more satisfying, regardless of the truth.

Polls indicate hung parliament.

Toilet & Bowels 05.06.2010 12:28 PM

That's probably the best that can be hoped for

Pragmatically, maybe. I'm still hoping the free hourly blowjobs for Glice party gets in.

Glice 05.06.2010 12:43 PM

That 'hourly' isn't an indication of poor quality blowjobs, I should add.

Lurker 05.06.2010 12:45 PM

Well then I hope it's a well hung parliament for your sake.

davenotdead 05.06.2010 01:10 PM

so tories = republicans
labour = democrats/liberals

?

Derek 05.06.2010 01:23 PM

That's the basic translation I suppose.

SYHamilton 05.06.2010 09:47 PM

Looks like a minority Conservative government....That's what we've had in Canada since 2006. It's not so bad because the governing party needs support from the minority parties to get anything passed.

radarmaker 05.06.2010 09:53 PM

Sometimes I fucking hate this country.

jon boy 05.06.2010 09:58 PM

SYRFox 05.07.2010 12:18 AM

I invite you all to France. We got a better government
